Gypsophila: growing and its features

Gypsophila paniculate is a plant that needs a fairly long light-day. This type of plant requires 13-14 hours of sunlight per day for flowering, therefore it is necessary to use additional lighting to create such conditions. Only after the gypsophila has developed a minimum of 12 pairs of leaves, this plant will blossom. But sometimes the flowering of gypsophila occurs during 3-5 weeks of short light days. To achieve high yield, this plant must be planted in the spring.

Planting gypsophila is desirable to carry out in the soil, which well passes moisture, and also contains 1-2% of humus. In addition, gypsophila cultivation requires the presence of lime in the soil. Before planting the plant, it is necessary to spread the lime onto the soil, and also take care that the soil PH varies from 6.3 to 6.7. It is necessary to add mineral fertilizer with potassium content, if growing flowers is provided in the open ground. This procedure is required to be carried out regularly throughout the flowering period.

Plant the plant in the open ground is recommended in two rows, observing the distance between the bushes of seedlings not less than 70 centimeters, and between the rows - at least 130 centimeters. When planting gypsophila in one row, the distance between adjacent rows should be 170 cm, and the distance between the plants themselves in one row is 50 cm. Two years after planting, every second bush should be transplanted so that one bush of the plant has one square meter. This is the goal of the best quality of the flower. After digging out the plant, it is necessary to cool its roots and only then plant the bush in another place.

If the planting of gypsophila is carried out in a closed ground, it is allowed to plant the plant on 5 pieces per one square meter. The main thing is to arrange the beds in two rows, maintaining a distance of 40-50 centimeters between them. Such gypsophila cultivation is carried out using the installation of nets 30x30 at a distance of 0.3-0.4 m from the ground. When planting gypsophila, you should also ensure that the root system of the plant is in a sufficiently moistened substrate, and the root neck is not buried.

Gypsophila cultivation requires very careful watering. After planting, the plants are watering, taking into account the time of the year. Before flowering, the plant needs a large amount of moisture. In the summer, gypsophila is watered once in 2-3 days with the calculation of 4-5 liters of water per square meter, in winter watered every 7-10 days with a calculation of water of 0.5-1 liter per square meter. The flowers of the plant are rather tender, so it can only be watered from above until the bushes are formed. It is not superfluous to add mineral fertilizers when watering in a small concentration.

During the growth of gypsophila shoots, growing requires compliance with the temperature regime, namely 16-18 degrees. When it blooms, the ambient temperature should be 12-13 degrees. To achieve flowering hypsophila in the absence of sufficient natural light, it is necessary to further illuminate the plant artificially before dawn or after sunset. The aperture at the level of the plant should reach 80-100 lux. This can be achieved by hanging a light bulb 100-200 volts at 1.8 m above the plant. For well-developed plants, another method of illumination is also suitable, which often uses a bird's cultivation: 10 min. Light, 20 min. Of darkness.

After the gypsophila has faded (in the open ground), it is necessary to cut off the stems in autumn. If it has faded in the spring, it is necessary to cut off the stems, so that in the autumn it will bloom again. Cut the stem in such a way that 3-4 cm of the vegetative part remains on the roots. Before such pruning the soil should not be watered. It is necessary that the stem is dry. With the growth of new stems, the amount of moisture and mineral substances should gradually increase in the roots of the plant. If this condition is met, the new branches develop quite strong.

After opening flowers on stems by 70-80%, hypsophils are considered ripe. The tops open first, so first cut them, and then the rest of the branch, when all the flowers will bloom. Immediately after cutting, flowers should be placed in water or in a solution with a preservative.
