The capital of Cameroon, why I decided to visit it

Cameroon is Africa in the broadest sense of the word. As it seemed in childhood, there are sharks, gorillas, and big crocodiles. Heat, savannas, equatorial forests, mangroves, traditional for African countries, a simple way of life and very little confidence that in the near future the country in this regard is waiting for a grandiose transformation. The name of the country comes from the expression "Rio dos Camarões", so called the Portuguese arrived in 1472 Ruy de Siqueira and Fernand to Poe. In the coastal waters of the shrimp was really a myriad. From the west, Cameroon is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, and the countries bordering it are Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

The territory of Cameroon is quite impressive, in size it can compete with Spain or with the state of California. Unlike many others, even African countries, here you can find yourself in completely different natural areas. The northern part of the country is stretched towards savannas and semi-deserts, above which is the famous Sahara Desert. In the south, on the contrary, it is very humid. The coast of the Atlantic Ocean of Cameroon is one of the wettest places on the planet Earth. Immediately, in the South-Western region of the Republic, not far from the coast, is the highest point of the country (4040 m) Cameroon. The volcano on which it is located is active, it periodically reminds of itself. In 2000, there was an eruption, which left huge gaping craters on top.

"Africa in miniature" - it's about Cameroon that's what they say most often. There are more than 750 species of birds, almost all kinds of animals that live in Africa live in savannahs: rhinoceroses, giraffes, lions, antelopes, leopards, ostriches and others. There are many national parks in the country that carefully guard the precious local fauna. Firms organizing tours to Cameroon often recommend visiting such parks as Mefu, located in Yaoundé (the capital of Cameroon), Vaza, Benue, Bubanjida, the reserves of Campo, Ja.

Yaounde is the capital of Cameroon with a population of over one million people, however, this city is not the largest, it is second to the other - Douala, where more than 2 million people live. Admittedly, Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, is the safest capital of all African states. In the 19th century, Cameroon was a colony of Germany, and during the First World War, the capital of Cameroon, and the whole of Cameroon, was divided among themselves by the English and French. And now the main languages of communication are English and French, although there are still about 24 local language groups. The total population is about 20 million people.

Along with several other Central African countries, Cameroon has a unique people - pygmies. These are the smallest people on the planet, but they are famous, of course, not only this. Once you come here, you can not just imagine, but also watch how they lived in the dense jungle and provided themselves with everything people and a hundred, and probably many years ago, since since then almost nothing has changed in their way.

Someone remembers the word about Cameroon famous football team, someone - a unique diversity of the animal world, one can say with certainty: having a chance to visit this wonderful country, in any case should not miss it!
