Grape Monarch - one of the most delicious modern hybrids

The end of August and the beginning of September always please us with delicious gifts. What could be better than a large heavy bunch of grapes, which you want to tear off the vine? Each berry is filled with sunlight and as if burns from the inside. And it seems that just about sweet juice will break out and flow on the palms. One of the most delicious varieties can be called Monarch grape.

Variety description

This complex form of table hybrids was selected by the breeder Pavlovsky by crossing the varieties Talisman and Cardinal with the addition of pollen. Variety of grapes Monarch differs especially large bunches of presentation, the weight of which can be from 500 to 1500 grams.

Flowering occurs at the very beginning of June. Flowers have a bisexual base. The berries ripen 130 days, the harvest is collected after August 20. The bunch has, as a rule, a conical shape, more rarely - an oval shape. After maturing, the brushes retain their taste characteristics and appearance for a long time, hang on the bushes for a long time. Grapes The monarch is distinguished by strong growth power of shoots (up to 2.5 m). Cuttings take root without any problems, the maturing of the vine passes normally.

The variety is able to perfectly tolerate frosts to -23 degrees Celsius. It is resistant to defeat by anthracnose. It is also possible to protect this variety from phylloxera, although it grows much better on its own roots.

Grape Monarch: description of berries

Grains accumulate sugar well. The berries themselves are yellowish in color, with pink or reddish patches appearing due to the "sunburn" in the sun. Fruits are oval in shape and reach a size of 36x26 mm with an average mass of 15-25 g. With prolonged stay of the cluster on the bush, the berries begin to become liquefied, but the gustatory taste is only improved.

Grape Monarch, a photo of which is presented in the review, has grains with a medium-density peel, but during food it is not felt at all, and grapes can be eaten with pleasure. The taste of the berries is simple and pleasant, with a slight taste of muscat. It is also possible to harvest the second crop from provoked kidneys, while the taste of berries does not change at all, but their size will be slightly smaller.

Oat shedding during the pollination period

Grape variety Monarch is prone to shattering the ovary during the pollination period. This problem is faced by many gardeners. Moreover, climatic conditions do not particularly affect the loss of flowers. It is interesting that even on practically empty bunches this grapes still binds a couple of dozen berries, yielding a crop weighing 500 g.

Inflorescence of inflorescences is unsystematic and occurs on strong thickened shoots. But the weaker shoots have a good phase of pollination.

Solving the problem of shedding

As it turned out, Monarch grape sheds inflorescences with strong fatty shoots. To avoid this, one should adhere to some recommendations:

1. Young hybrid forms of bushes : in autumn the whole vine is left, which has ripened, thus nothing is cut off, including it is necessary to leave "twins" and "tees". The entire vine that has emerged from the bush should be left to the pea phase, after which it is possible to normalize the bush.

2. The old powerful bush: you should plan at least 60 kidneys for fruiting. Fruit shoots must necessarily be thin, then the inflorescence will not crumble.

How to choose a place for planting

Because the Monarch grapes love light, then the place should be sunny and protected from the wind. An excellent solution will be a plot near the southern wall of the house, a barn or a fence. In this case, the soil must be well drained. Grapes are best planted on the gentle slope of the south-western or southern slope, while placing the series in the direction of "south-north". What if the site is completely flat, and the southern wall of the house is already occupied? In this case, you need to create a place where the vine will be comfortable.

For this, in any place of the house area it is necessary to build a fence with a height of up to two meters, orienting it along the line "east-west". Also for this purpose you can use a dense hedge, you can still make a solid screen of vine or cane.

Landing on the ridge

Plant grapes in several ways, focusing on the type of soil. For example, on sandy soils, it is recommended to use a trench landing method.

Do not hurry with the planting of young plants in the ground, especially if you have not previously engaged in the cultivation of these varieties. Let them stay in the school until the first signal brushes (and hide them will be much easier). In the northern areas it is better not to plant young grapes in the ground in the first year. It is better to keep them in buckets or barrels, half buried in the ground. Such shoots will start to bear fruit earlier.

Clear planning of the grape area is necessary. It is not recommended to plant vines spontaneously. Sorts are better grouped by designation, since the landing interval can be different. The distance between the grape rows should be at least two meters, and between the individual bushes 0.8 m (for juice-wine varieties) or 1.5 m (for table hybrids). To facilitate further care of plants will help preliminary grouping them according to the terms of ripening berries, in terms of frost resistance and other common characteristic qualities.
