Glue for glass: application features

Universal glue for glass is designed to work with a variety of materials. It allows you to join together glass surfaces, glue the glass with stone, metal, rubber, wood. With it, you can repair mirrors, as well as damaged multi-layered windows of cars.

The glue is made on the basis of oligourethane methacrylates, and in appearance it is a colorless homogeneous low-viscous transparent liquid that is capable of photopolymerization. The setting time of the bonded surfaces is about 30-70 seconds.

Ultra-violet glue for glass and metal does not require processing of materials before gluing. With technology it is enough to walk on the surface with a windshield wiper. When solidified, a polymeric, durable layer is formed that has transparency, colorlessness and moisture resistance. In addition, it provides reliability in conditions of strong vibration and has sufficient force to break. Operating temperature varies from minus 40 to plus 150 degrees.

Glue for glass: a choice of a material

When choosing components for bonding, it should be borne in mind that different compounds will eventually have different strengths.

The maximum strength is provided by such schemes as glass with metal (stainless steel), glass with granite, wood (hard rocks), corrugated glass and sandblasted.

Glue for glass: surface preparation

The material to be bonded must have an absolutely clean, dry surface, free of grease. For cleaning, use a windscreen wiper, based on isopropyl alcohol. In order to obtain a long lasting bond, it is necessary to heat the materials to be bonded before gluing to a temperature that exceeds the room temperature by 30 degrees. This will remove the condensate. Heating is carried out evenly and slowly, preventing the appearance of internal stresses in the joint. Failure to comply with these conditions can lead to loss of strength, including the destruction of the connection.

Glue for glass (transparent): application

Before use, it should be checked once again how the connected parts will be positioned with each other. Adhesive should be used within five minutes after heating. It is recommended to apply a uniform thin layer. Excessive amount, as well as the presence of bubbles will reduce the strength of the joint and will require the removal of excess material.

A medium viscosity adhesive is required to be applied prior to joining the materials, and with a low viscosity, due to capillary activity, is able to penetrate into the joint clearances itself, so the surfaces can be bonded prior to application of the adhesive. It should be taken into account: the more smoothly bonded surfaces, the less the adhesive layer, the stronger will be the connection.

To complete the gluing, an ultraviolet lamp with a capacity of 45 watts is required, which after the application of the glue, the gluing site should be irradiated. This procedure is carried out within 20 - 70 seconds, while the lamp should be placed as close as possible to the surfaces to be glued.
