Decorative honeysuckle, planting and care

Honeysuckle Capryfall is a decorative, beautifully flowering liana. Other her names - Honeysuckle Kozya (in Latin "capry" means "goat leaf") or Honeysuckle Fragrant. Fragrant it is named for the fresh, strong and delicate aroma of its flowers, they are used in perfumery and aromatherapy. In the wild it occurs in the Caucasus and in Southern Europe. A good honey plant. Natural places of growth of this type of honeysuckle are sunny forest edges with moist hardwood soil. This shrub can grow 6 meters or more in height. It blooms in May - June, beautiful, white with yellow flowers, similar to orchids. Flowering is abundant, which makes honeysuckle caprylic a valuable decorative plant for vertical gardening. The fruits are also decorative, red. Pay attention, the fruits of decorative honeysuckle are inedible! (There is still edible, with blue, blueberry-like berries, but this is another plant.) Honeysuckle Capryfol is a long-lasting plant, there are specimens that have reached the age of 50 years.

Honeysuckle needs vertical supports, without them the liana will travel along the earth (sometimes it is used as a ground cover plant). From the honeysuckle on the supports you can create decorative walls and fences, it can be started to curl over the gazebo or veranda, with its help you can decorate the walls of an unpretentious structure or hide unsightly outbuildings.

Growing honeysuckle is not difficult. This plant is rather unpretentious and does not need any special care. Grow honeysuckle honeysuckle lighter than another, more popular vine, clematis. But the decorative honeysuckle looks nothing worse than the clematis, it blooms more abundantly, and the aroma ... Those who prefer to have a "wild" garden, with plants that do not require special care, should choose a honeysuckle. Planting and caring for other blossoming lianas is somewhat more complicated.

Honeysuckle, planting and care

For planting it is advisable to choose a sunny place, in the shade the bush will also grow, but there you will not see an abundantly flowering honeysuckle. Planting and nursing are as follows: the planting of honeysuckle is carried out in a trench (if it is planned to plant the plants in a row) or individual pits filled with organic and mineral fertilizers. The earth needs fertile and loose, in principle, honeysuckle will grow on loam, but somewhat worse. The best time to plant is spring. Young plants for winter it is desirable to cover, for example, lapnikom. But it only needs to be done for the first two years, until the plant is stronger.

In the middle belt, for quite a while, shoots of ornamental honeysuckle are cut short for the winter. Of course, over the summer shoots will grow again and the plant will bloom. But, nevertheless, it is not necessary to trim the honeysuckle shoots "under the stump". The plant is resistant to frost, even staying on supports, only the ends of the shoots freeze. If even a part of the shoots are preserved, your plant will become decorative much earlier. In the spring, do not hurry to cut off the shoots on the supports! The fact is that in honeysuckle the kidneys on the vines are "hidden", before the appearance of leaves it is impossible to distinguish live shoots from the dead. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the frozen shoots when the buds are already penetrated.

Care for honeysuckle is in watering (during the hot season), mulching, fertilizing with complex fertilizers and pruning. In the second year, the ends of the shoots are cut off by 30 centimeters to cause branching. In honeysuckle you need to trim the dead and thickening bush shoots, and left to guide to the supports in the right place. On old bushes do rejuvenating pruning. If the honeysuckle does not form at all, it will turn into a chaotic lump, however, if it suits your garden style and you like it, you can leave it (in fact, such thickets look natural and romantic).

Reproduction of honeysuckle.

Honeysuckle can be propagated by cuttings, seeds and bush division. The cuttings are cut approximately in the beginning of July (immediately after flowering), with two internodes and are rooted in the greenhouse.

Cultivation from seeds is somewhat more difficult, and the simplest and most reliable way is by dividing the bush.

Varieties of decorative honeysuckle is still a bit. There is another form with red and white flowers, also a beautiful honeysuckle. Planting and caring for her do not differ from the basic form.
