To date, this is the most famous German car brand Volkswagen, although other plant developments - "Transporter" or Golf - are also popular and famous.

"Porsche"

Few people know that this brand is a German-made car. Nevertheless, behind its creation is the same engineer and designer as in the case of Volkswagen - Ferdinand Porsche. In 1931 he opened an enterprise for the creation of aggregates for automobile companies, without thinking about mass production then. Nevertheless, he was soon able to create a unique racing Type 22, the development of which became the basis of the legendary Porsche. By 1939 for the Berlin-Rome race, the Type 64 was developed. Now only one copy of this car is preserved, which is in the museum of the company in Stuttgart. Since 1948, a new page in the history of the Porsche began. The model 356 was developed, which conquered the fans of fast driving. Some variants of this car can still be found on the road. And this is not surprising: it is believed that Porsche cars are the most reliable. In 1963, the legendary 911 model was introduced, which was the final step to worldwide recognition. With the cars of the brand is also related an interesting fact: the ignition key they are located on the left. "Maybach"

While mentioning luxury cars of German brands, one can not help calling this one. The developer and founder was the German engineer Wilhelm Maybach, who also has an attitude towards the appearance of "Mercedes". He created several iconic models of DMG, which ensured the success of the brand. In 1907, Maybach left the company because of a conflict with Daimler, who headed the production, and began work on his own firm - Maybach. Before the First World War, he was engaged in aircraft engines, and then switched to cars and locomotives. In 1926, the first Maybach was created, which conquered the buyers with technical perfection and luxury. Few cars of German brands were produced then taking into account all the customer's wishes. In 1930, there was a model Zeppelin, the most famous in the era, sold for fabulous money. In the new millennium, Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 were created, which returned the plant to its previous success and became real status indicators for its owners.

"Mercedes"

If you ask someone a question about what German car brands he knows, the first answer is likely to be the name of this one. The history of the legendary "Mercedes" begins in 1900, when Emil Jellinek suggested to the head of the DMG to name the new model of the car in honor of his daughter with that name. Since 1902, Mercedes has become a separate brand. The first car was racing and brought production glory to a multitude of victories. The model remained unchanged until the First World War. In 1909, appeared and the famous logo with a three-beam star. It symbolizes the production of engines for airplanes and boats, that is, working with machines on the ground, in the air and on the water. After World War II, the plant began production of small sedans, and in the fifties, limousines were also produced. Since 1954 the assortment has replenished with sports coupes. The reputation of luxury has returned to the brand, and its success has remained unchanged ever since.

"BMW"

Mentioning cars of German brands, it is necessary to name and BMW - one of the oldest companies. In addition to cars, she produces motorcycles, and previously engaged in aviation. This is hinted at by a logo depicting a propeller against the sky. The founders were Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto. Designers produced aircraft engines, highly in demand during the First World War. In 1917, they switched to motorcycle engines, then developed a complete assembly cycle, and by 1928 the production of small cars began. The Dixi model was the first creation of "BMW", the economical price provided it with excellent sales in Germany. Before the Second World War, the plant managed to start production of sports cars. The history of the name is very interesting. On the banks of the Rhine there is a land called Oppel, and the inhabitants of those places are called the operas. One of the men there decided to send his son to study, he grew up and became a manufacturer. He started making hats, and his son went to France and saw a sewing machine, which allowed to establish in Germany the production of machines for making headdresses. In 1884, he caught fire with a new idea and began to collect bicycles. In 1897 the company mastered the production of cars. The first model was started manually and was not successful. In wartime, the company produced trucks for the army, and from 1923 to 1924 the plant underwent modernization: the first assembly conveyor in the country appeared. The light appeared two-seater cars and the brand's path to success began. After World War II, Opel also produced racing cars. The popularity of the brand became stable and did not fall off for decades. In the nineties, SUVs were introduced, and today the range includes many models and allows the brand to be on the first positions in the lists of the best and most famous.

"Audi"

It is impossible to forget this name by enumerating German cars. Brands, whose list is worthy of attention, include Audi. The company was founded in 1910 by engineer Horch. The name of the company is the translation of the owner's name into Latin. The logo of the four rings symbolizes the union of four companies - DKW, Audi, Wanderer and Horch - into a single concern. Like other manufacturers, Audi first produced racing German cars. Stamps, photos of which can be seen in the materials about the competitions, included also Mercedes and BMW, it's no wonder that this was a real way to success. In the postwar years, the company produced budget models, but the real heyday reached in the eighties and does not give up positions until now.
