UAZ "Patriot" - diesel or gasoline, speed or thrust?

According to runet, SUV "Patriot" was recognized as the best domestic car in 2012. And among the leaders were both petrol and diesel versions of the Patriot.

The appearance of the diesel version of UAZ "Patriot" aroused great interest. Consequently, the debate broke out between proponents of gasoline engines and fans of diesel engines. What to choose? Diesel or gasoline? This, of course, is a private matter for every owner. The gasoline engine is characterized by quieter operation and high revs. However, the diesel is more economical and develops true steam locomotive traction at the bottom. But the design of the diesel is more cumbersome and heavy, compared with a gasoline engine, and the revs are much smaller.

In principle, the engine's ability to develop high speeds only amends the host's pride. In fact, the power unit is estimated by its power and its ability to pull the car. And if you consider that the "Patriot" is not a city "parketnik", and you can ride it even in the absence of roads, then a powerful thrust in small gears is preferable to it for high speeds. And it depends little on what stands under the hood: gasoline or diesel. This depends on the correct selection of gear ratios for the transmission in relation to the engine.

In terms of fuel consumption, it is also difficult to say which is better: UAZ "Patriot" diesel or gasoline. Yes, the diesel uses less fuel. But is the total saving of money so important? "Patriot" with diesel requires an average of 10 liters per 100 km in city driving mode. Petrol version - 13 liters. It would seem that saving on the face. But, in addition to gasoline or diesel fuel, the engine also needs additional components. And then it turns out that in diesel, oil should be changed twice as often. And buying a good oil also "pours out" in a decent amount. So in this regard, there are no special differences in which set of UAZ "Patriot" is purchased - diesel or gasoline.

We analyze further. Now consider the cost of spare parts. On the diesel version of the "Patriot" is the engine "Iveco." The unit itself is not bad, but spare parts for it are very expensive. Especially for high-precision components of the electronic injection system. For example, the cost of a common-rail injector on the "Iveco" can reach up to 22 thousand rubles. And "live" they are a maximum of 300 000 km of run. The cost of injection pump is also impressive - about 46 000 rubles. In this case, the bowl of the scales "diesel or gasoline" is inclined obviously not in favor of the diesel engine.

So, which version should you prefer? If diesel cars were unprofitable, they would not be let out. This fully applies to UAZs. The choice of diesel or gasoline will depend more on where the machine is supposed to operate. If a brutal SUV is chosen for self-assertion and for movement around the city, the diesel version is more prestigious. If the frame all-pass vehicle is chosen to search for adventures, then in this case, gasoline is preferable. The economy on fuel here obviously will not be, but on spare parts it will be appreciable.
