George Leonardovich Vasiliev was born in 1957 in the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye. The future bard graduated from two classes of music school. After Georgi Vasiliev, whose songs will later become known to fans of copyright works, continued to learn music by himself, mastering the guitar.

Education

George Vasilyev, whose biography is connected with Moscow, was educated in one of the best universities in the country and this city. He enrolled at Moscow State University, where he studied under the personal program at the economic and geographical faculties. Later, George defended his thesis on economics. After graduating from the university, he was an employee of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, later - the Central Research and Design Institute (TSNIIP) of urban planning. Shortly before the collapse of the USSR, George Leonardovich was elected chairman of the Oktyabrsky district of the capital. It was he who, after 1991, had the initiative to change the administrative division of the capital - from districts to districts.

Author's song

Georgi Vasiliev is a tenor who met with his constant co-author Alexei Ivashchenko as a student. The musician recalls that they first met in the musical theater, then together they played in the music studio of the stage theater of Moscow State University. Together they prepared about 10 musical performances. In 1981, the co-authors wrote the musical "Witness" about the tragic figure of Giordano Bruno. And the first song Georgi Vasiliev wrote back in 16 years. Later, together with Alexei Ivashchenko, our hero created a creative duet. They jointly prepared and performed many songs. Georgy Vasiliev is an opera singer, who took part in the project of bardic music "Songs of our century" at the turn of 1990-2000. Many representatives of the author's song worked on it.

Musical "Nord-Ost"

Together with Alexei Ivashchenko Georgy Vasiliev created the musical "Nord-Ost". The process of creating the performance was launched in 1998. In the summer of that year, they chose the literary basis for the production - "Two Captains." The musicians did not want to create a rehash of any European musical, so they looked for a source in Russian literature. There were several options, but Georgi Vasiliev and his co-author chose the book of Veniamin Kaverin.

In one interview, he shared a story about how the idea came about moving this novel onto the stage. Alexei suggested that the co-author put the "Two Captains", but he did not consider this novel a suitable basis for the musical. In the family of George Leonardovich there is a tradition. In summer everyone reads a book aloud together. In 1998, the Vasilyev family chose Kaverin's novel. George noticed that children and adults are following with interest the development of actions. He realized that this book is the ideal choice for the production. The musicians studied all the works of Benjamin Kaverin when they worked on adapting his book.

Our hero took part in the creation of scenarios of films and three plays based on the "Two Captains". The novel covers three decades, so usually the characters are played by two actors - in childhood and adulthood. The authors of "Nord-Ost" decided that one actor should be represented on stage by three artists - in childhood, youth and adulthood. The troupe Vasilyev and Ivashchenko collected a little more than a year. Almost all artists had an acting and musical education. Only two were without a profile education, but they were real talents. In April-June 2001, for the artists of the performance, the school operated. Its task was to teach how to work in the conditions that are necessary for the production of a classical musical. Classes included choreography, vocal, stage movement, step. The peculiarity of the production was that it was shown in the theater every day.

Premiere

Georgi Vasiliev said in an interview shortly before the premiere that the play takes three hours and covers an action that takes more than thirty years. Therefore, it opens with classical music of the turn of the century, then there are elements of 20th century music (tango, jazz), Soviet variety. In the finale, rock sounds. The setting is divided into two actions and consists of 43 numbers. The greeting of the actors of the performance "Nord-Ost" was the launch of paper airplanes. On the day of the premiere of the performance in February 2002, a hundred of such "flying machines" flew out of the auditorium.

The tragedy on Dubrovka

During the tragic events of the fall of 2002, Georgi Vasiliev was also among the hostages. He recalled that at the time of the attack he was in the recording studio. Hearing the shots, he ran into the hall. At that time there was already a certain order - the audience was surrounded by armed terrorists. When the light filters began to smoke, the director managed to convince the militants to give him the opportunity to turn them off, because a fire could have happened. For three days, George was able to step by step to get terrorists concessions for the hostages. He was directly under the air conditioning, from which the storm went gas. He was not returned to consciousness until ten o'clock.

Ban

A month after the tragedy, George left the hospital and began work on restoring the building of the Theater Center and the play. Problems with finances forced the creators to stop the production in 2003. Scenery "Nord-Ost" weighed about a ton and was not intended for transfer. Therefore, the termination of performances in the Theater Center meant the end of the stage version of the musical. The co-authors tried to conduct a tour. In Nizhny Novgorod, "Nord-Ost" met the interest of spectators - instead of 9 they gave 14 performances. Then the artists performed in Tyumen. After that, under various pretexts, they began to refuse to staged in other cities. Later attempts to restore the display of the musical were not successful. The TV channels also did not agree to use his records. Probably, this is due to the fact that the name of the play became a symbol of the tragedy.

Producer

In the 2000s, Georgi Vasiliev started producing. He took part in the creation of several significant projects. In 2004, work began on the animated series "Mountain of gems". His series were screen versions of tales of the peoples of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The series continues to come out. In 2010, the animated series "Fixiki" was published based on the story of Eduard Uspensky. Georgy Vasiliev is the author of songs for the cartoon. He says in an interview that he was seriously worried about the lack of music for children in the last two decades. He translated good songs as he did. In 2006, George co-produced the project "Multi-Russia", in which the audience is told about the regions and peoples of the country. Our hero admits that he often changes his activity, as he tries not to do more than one big project within the same industry.
