History of creation

This order was established and entered the system of Soviet Union awards in April of one thousand nine hundred and thirty. The first who was awarded this order was an outstanding military commander - Vasily Konstantinovich Blucher.

Now it was a silver convex star with five beams, covered with scarlet enamel. The first, oldest version of the Order in the center on a white background housed a hammer and a plow. The second version was approved with the already familiar Red Army soldier.

The Order began to resemble the distinctive sign that the first Red Army soldiers wore on their chests. The central part was fringed by one of the slogans of the Soviet state, and the name of the country was written down the center in the lowest part. The project of the external appearance of the award was designed by the tandem of the artist V. Kupriyanov and the sculptor V. Golenitsky.

It is noteworthy that initially, according to tradition, the order was accepted to be worn on the left side of the uniform, and after the war the tradition changed, the soldiers hung it on the right side.

Cavaliers of the award

After only one month after the establishment of the order, the first worthy citizens were already awarded. The first order of the Red Star was received by the commander of the EADV V. Blucher for supervising the operation in the settlement of the conflict on the China-Eastern railway line. In the fall, in a slushy and cold season, the Red Army troops defeated the Chinese factions who committed systematic looting of the bordering Soviet territories. For brave battles, the soldiers of the Blucher Army were awarded this order, his troops were henceforth called "Red Banner", more than five hundred rank-and-file fighters, and also officers wore the Red Star in their buttonhole.

Courage and Courage

Among the first among the awardees were six pilots of three Soviet aircraft, which, without any breakages or delays, could fly more than ten thousand kilometers over the sea, desert lands and mountain ranges. And not only they, such heroes, which was surprising, there were many. Awarded with the Order of the Red Star of the Second World War are the most courageous and selfless citizens of the country.
