The beginning of the BWI, its main causes and assumptions

The Great Patriotic War ... Every inhabitant of our vast country heard about this event, which took millions of lives of Soviet soldiers, more than once. Today much is said about the causes of the war, its consequences and how we could live, if not for our history of these 1418 days and nights. The Patriotic War affected virtually every family of the Soviet Union. Someone saw off to the front of their sons and husbands, someone worked in the rear, providing the army with the necessary food and weapons.

Beginning of the VOv - June 22, 1941, when the Nazi Germany, having received the support of Italy, Romania, Finland, Slovakia and Hungary, began its invasion of the territory of the Soviet Union. In fact, the war began without warning and official announcement. The reasons for the beginning of the Great Patriotic War were named only after the transfer of German troops across the Soviet border. Following the Germans, the war was declared to the Soviet Union by Romania and Italy. For the occupation of our country, the troops of the German invaders formed three groups of armies, stationed on the eve of June 22 along the western border of the USSR.

Army Group "South" concentrated on the territory of 1,300 km from the shores of the Black Sea to Polissya and consisted of the 6th, 11th, 17th German armies, the 3rd and 4th Romanian armies and the Hungarian Corps. The command was carried out by the German general - Field Marshal von Rundstedt.

An army group called "Center" was located on the territory of more than 500 km, it included the 4th and 9th field armies, the 2nd and 3rd tank groups. This direction of the offensive was under the command of German Field Marshal von Bock.

Army Group "North" in number of troops inferior to the first two and was located on the territory of 230 km. It included the 16th and 18th Armies, the First Air Fleet, and the 4th Panzer Group. This group of the army was commanded by Field Marshal von Leeb.

As we know from the lessons of history, in the first days of the battles the Soviet Union's army failed. This is primarily due to the surprise attack of the aggressor. The beginning of the Patriotic War is associated with large losses of both human resources and military equipment and ammunition on the part of the USSR. So, already on the day of its beginning, more than a thousand Soviet planes were destroyed .

The beginning of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War was preceded by a series of events. First, the arrival of the fascists to power in Germany and Italy and the associated military tension. Secondly, the collapse of the policy of collective security, which was based on the desire of the political forces of several countries to prevent the outbreak of a world war. In addition, many historians associate the beginning of the BOC with the aggressive aims of Japan and the conduct of the rather aggressive policy of its statesmen (the occupation of China, the withdrawal of the troops of the Japanese army to the borders of the Soviet Far East). The conclusion of the non-aggression pact with Germany (1939) as an attempt on the part of the Soviet Union to prevent the commencement of the WWII was also unsuccessful.

The foreign policy of many countries is not the only prerequisite for the outbreak of war. By the end of the 30s of the twentieth century, many people living in Europe were on the verge of poverty and social insecurity. The so-called lower reaches of society have become a fertile ground for the spread of fascism in Europe and Asia. The beginning of the war was also provoked by the presence of sharp geopolitical contradictions in the world, Germany's striving for world domination. The largest world power, the Soviet Union, was also dragged into the bloody four-year war. The role of the Soviet people, their heroism in defending their land in the victory over fascism are enormous. Every year, we honor the memory of all those killed on the fields of the BVI, because thanks to them today we have the opportunity to live peacefully in a free country and not be afraid for the future of our children.
