Fire safety in production: basic requirements

Fire safety in production is regulated by rules developed and approved by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Production facilities, as a rule, are distinguished by an increased class of fire danger. This is due to the presence of a large number of combustible materials, electrical equipment and the action of potentially dangerous work processes.

Causes of fires in production

The main causes of fires in production are: violation of technological processes, malfunction of electrical appliances and equipment, spontaneous combustion of combustible materials, insufficient training of employees.

Fire safety in production implies the fulfillment of all requirements and requirements of the relevant standards and instructions.

At large enterprises, management creates special departments of engineering services, where specialists work, whose main responsibility is to monitor compliance with standards, regulations and safety regulations. In addition, they help to quickly resolve issues arising in the construction of buildings or installation of new equipment. Such profile engineering departments allow not involving third-party firms to solve issues related to fire safety in production, and, therefore, save the enterprise's funds.

Fire safety in the office

In the past few decades, the problem of ensuring fire safety of offices is particularly acute. Here the human factor plays a role : the majority of employees and employers do not realize the degree of potential threat from the flame.

Fire safety in the workplace, compared with security in the office, seems more difficult to achieve. However, in the first case, employees are fully aware of the degree of threat, and as a result are in a more advantageous situation.

In order to change the current situation, it is necessary to strictly observe all requirements, recommendations and rules, namely:

- install a fire alarm;

- ensure the presence of powder or carbon dioxide type fire extinguishers ;

- to develop and hang out in a prominent place the scheme of evacuation in case of fire;

- eliminate all violations detected during the inspections, within the agreed timeframe.

Fire safety measures

All the above measures of struggle can be divided into five large classes:

1. Measures to eliminate the causes of emergencies (both direct and indirect).

2. Activities aimed at limiting the magnitude of the disaster.

3. Measures to ensure rapid and safe evacuation.

4. Activities that provide for the creation of factors and conditions that ensure the successful extinguishment of a fire.

5. Fire prevention: training of employees, conducting briefings, appointing responsible persons, organizing fire brigades, etc.

Fire safety in the workplace and in the office is supported by the implementation of preventive measures. They allow to reduce the number of fires, minimize possible material damage and reduce the number of injuries received during a fire.
