Fire extinguisher OU-5: purpose, features of application, technical characteristics

Currently, one of the most common, convenient and highly effective fire extinguishing devices is the OU-5 fire extinguisher. The model belongs to the category of high-pressure extinguishers. The device is charged with a liquid mixture based on carbon dioxide, which is released due to saturated vapor pressure.

The suppression of fires by a fire extinguisher is based on the cooling of objects and substances that are in the combustion zone. At the same time, the environment is diluted with inert, non-flammable substances of high concentration, which create the conditions for stopping the combustion reaction.

Application Features

The OU-5 fire extinguisher is activated by retrieving a retaining sealed check. The socket of the device is directed towards the source of ignition. In this case, it is necessary to avoid contact of the exposed skin areas with the active substance, because when it ejects its temperature drops to a dangerous limit of 60 to 70 ^degrees below zero.

The fire extinguisher is activated by releasing the starting and closing device - the lever, which must be opened before failure. With the same lever, you can interrupt or completely stop the supply of carbon dioxide.

General Terms of Use

Before using the OU-5 fire extinguisher, it is necessary to determine the type of fire in order to understand how suitable and effective this model will be under the existing conditions.

Suppress foci of inflammation is necessary, directing the bell of the fire extinguisher from the windward side, gradually shifting into the depths of the flame. When extinguishing liquid flammable substances, the bell should first be directed to the front edge of the hearth, and not to the open flame, moving to the center as the fire is suppressed.

The ignited vertical surfaces, as well as the flammable liquid pouring from above, must be extinguished from the top to the bottom. Whenever possible, it is better to use several devices of this type at the same time.

Do not put the fire extinguisher OU-5 (3), which makes it possible to extinguish the electronics and burning electrical installations, to electrical appliances at a distance closer to the model indicated on the label.

When extinguishing a fire, it must be ensured that the flame does not flash again, and in no case turn to the fire with your back. Using a fire extinguisher, you should send it to recharge.

Model OU-5 is subject to regular, periodic inspection for tightness, which should be performed at least once every six months. Verification is also subject to weight - it must comply with the standards specified in the passport data of this model of fire extinguisher.

If the weight of the balloon is less than the specified values according to technical specifications or the balloon life is exceeded, the fire extinguisher must be sent for maintenance. If necessary, it is recharged by a specialist of the maintenance station.
