The electromechanical industry offers consumers a wide variety of products, in demand both in industrial production and in everyday life. Engineers are constantly working on improving equipment, trying to simplify their service as much as possible. The cartridge G9 refers to products of this type.

Cartridge

The market is the most widely represented two types of cartridges: for threaded (marking - E) and pin (denoted by G) connections. The threaded version is used to most home fixtures. The pin option is gaining popularity due to its convenience and the ability to use unusual lighting points in the interior. Designers can offer dozens of options for using spotlights not only when decorating a room, but also furniture.

The main task of the cartridge is to ensure the transmission of electric current to the lighting device. The design consists of several elements:

  • External housing;
  • contacts;
  • sleeve;
  • Fasteners.

The cartridge G9 is equipped with a sleeve with a spring socket. The light bulb instead of the thread on the base has several pins and is not screwed, but simply stuck into the base. They reliably "sit" in the nests, providing excellent contact. Technical characteristics of the socket:

  • The distance between the holes (grooves) is 9 mm;
  • The outer diameter of the product is 17.78 mm;
  • Height - 22.86 mm.

A cartridge for halogen lamps G9 was developed and widely used. As a rule, they are used for decorative or directional lighting:

  • Illumination of show-windows, paintings and other works of art;
  • In a variety of spotlights, including in suspended ceilings;
  • For decoration of furniture designs;
  • For lighting aquariums and heating terrariums.

Modifications

In the marking, the letter G indicates that the cartridge is used to install lamps with a pin socket. The digit "9" determines the distance between the pins, which is 9 mm. The cartridge G9 is available in different versions and can vary:

  • By type of fastening:

- with two screws;

- with threaded connection (mounted on the back of the cartridge);

- complete with a ring and a thread (with their help a lamp is installed on the cartridge).

  • By type of connection with wires:

- the wires are pre-attached to the cartridge;

- the presence of flat spring terminals.

All models are convenient and easy to operate. "G 9" is the second most popular after products with the "E" marking.

Material

For the manufacture of such products use either ceramics or heat-resistant plastic:

  • The G9 ceramic cartridge is one of the most reliable and safe products. Ceramics - a great insulator, which reduces the possibility of a short circuit to a minimum.
  • Plastic sample. Modern chemical industry can offer plastic with characteristics that meet all the necessary requirements for the safety of electrical appliances. The plastic cartridge G9 is lightweight, does not beat at accidental drop, it can withstand temperature fluctuations, it is cheaper than ceramic analogues.

Both options are equally popular among consumers. Ceramic products are preferable if the lighting device is switched on for a sufficiently long time. Plastic are perfect for furniture or decorative lighting. Light weight and easy installation will create any combination of directional lighting.

Features

The cartridge for lamp G9 has a number of features:

  • Tightness: the contacts do not get dust, moisture, condensation does not form;
  • The ability to use special adapters (usually ceramic ones) makes them universal;
  • Simplicity of operation (insert pins in the grooves will be able and a teenager);
  • Is produced for energy-saving (fluorescent), LED, halogen lamps;
  • The grooves reliably hold the lamp pins, ensuring reliable contact;
  • Powerful spring mechanism and light bulb;
  • Reliability of materials: high quality ceramics is used for the case, for the wires - heat-resistant braid;
  • One-off: cartridges for halogen bulbs are not subject to repair, in case of damage they are simply replaced with new ones.

Modern electronic equipment and advanced technologies make it possible to achieve an ideal coincidence of grooves and pins, which significantly increases their reliability.
