Born and grew up magnificent in Moscow, in the family of a lawyer. His childhood he spent in a small communal apartment on Matrosskaya street silence. After graduating in 1953, ten classes, Valentin Gaft secretly decides to enter the theater institute. His choice, he stopped at the school named Shchukin and the School-Studio of the Moscow Art Theater. Prior to the entrance examinations in the life of the future artist, a fateful event is taking place. Accidentally on the street he meets the star of the television screen of Sergei Dmitrievich Stolyarov ("Ruslan and Lyudmila", "Sadko"). Not confused, Valentine asks a famous actor to listen to him. Stolyarov was somewhat discouraged by the courage of the young man, but did not object. The lessons of the famous artist were not in vain: they immediately enlisted in the Gaft School Studio.

Theater is a small life

After graduating from the Theater Institute, the Gaft hardly gets a job. The first place of his service was the Mossovet Theater, where he made his debut in the play "Lizzie McKay" as the second detective. But he was not offered significant parties, so the actor worked there only a year. After some time, he arranged for the Satire Theater, where he did not stay too long. Here, the actor will play just one role - a scientist in the play "Shadow" by E. Schwartz. But later on the stage of this institution he will perform the best of his roles - Count Almaviva in the famous production of "Mad day, or the marriage of Figaro". Further thorny path of the actor Valentin Iosifovich will continue at the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya.

And after some time, will work on the theatrical stage at the director A. Goncharov in the Spartakovskaya street. 1965 will be a turning point in the career of a talented artist, he will get acquainted with Anatoly Efros. The film career of the actor was less successful, at the beginning of the creative path he had to play only episodic roles. But since the 70's the picture has changed for the better, Gaftu began to offer bright and memorable images.
