The resource of any unit and car assembly is limited. It is different for different models and brands, but it is. Of course, if major repairs are inexpensive, then it makes sense to do it. If the car is quite rare or old, it may be necessary to replace the engine, because original parts are difficult to find for various reasons.

In Europe and America for a long time the engine is considered the same consumable part as brake pads or piston rings, so its attachment to a certain body is simply missing. At least, this is not reflected in the documents.

Replacement of the engine (which runs on gasoline) on diesel is more often made in trucks. It is more economical and has better traction characteristics. This replacement is also practiced on cars, although with "cars" more often the opposite: powerful engines simply do not need ordinary drivers. For example, V6 with a working volume of 3 liters will not be popular in the middle class. Replacing the engine in this case is designed to make the car more economical and reduce the cost of its maintenance. These are the main reasons why such an operation may be required, even if it is a waybill.
