Dysatria in the child: symptoms and treatment

Dysarthria in a child implies a change in the sound quality, which in turn is due to a violation in the nervous regulation of the muscles involved directly in the formation of sounds. In this article, we will talk in as much detail about this issue.

Causes

According to experts, the development of this speech disorder is primarily associated with a variety of pathological processes in the central nervous system. Most often, the dysarthria in a child is diagnosed if, during fetal development, the fetus has been exposed to several factors that affect the brain. This can be fetal hypoxia, and various kinds of viral diseases, and even pronounced toxicosis. In addition, if the labor is too fast or vice versa, as a rule, there is a cerebral hemorrhage, which subsequently also leads to a violation of the nervous regulation of the muscles themselves and, as a consequence, to a problem such as a dysarthria in a child. It is noteworthy that this ailment can be diagnosed at an early age, if the baby constantly suffers from inflammatory or infectious diseases.

Top-priority signs

This type of speech disorder, as a rule, is a violation of the reproduction of all sounds at the same time. It is noteworthy that the timbre of the baby's voice changes somewhat, becomes nasal. Specialists note that this diagnosis is fuzzy, at times it can accelerate or vice versa slow down. In some cases, the dysarthria in the child may also be accompanied by a disturbance of the motor activity. Another clear sign of this ailment is the refusal to take solid food (crusts of bread, fruits, some vegetables). In addition, children often refuse to perform the usual actions, for example, tie laces or button up buttons.

Modern methods of treatment

According to experts, the methods of treatment of this problem, as a rule, imply a complex impact on the root cause, the development of fine motor skills and the use of special modern speech therapy techniques. In severe cases, a complete examination of children with dysarthria, as well as follow-up in specialized institutions, is necessary.

Logopedic method

As already noted above, the most traditional method of treatment recognizes a logopedic approach to the problem. First of all, a speech card of a child with a dysarthria is initiated. Then a special conversation is held with the parents, in which they explain the importance of the multilateral approach. Parents should make an effort to encourage the baby to need a correct speech. Only after that lessons are held to replenish the passive vocabulary. It should be noted that the solution to this problem is possible only if there are systematic studies with a speech therapist, as well as comprehensive support from the mother and father. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no medications for dysarthria.
