Dufalac for babies

The drug "Dufalac" for infants is used as a remedy for laxative. In addition, the drug has osmotic properties. "Dufalac" for babies stimulates peristalsis in the intestines. The medication improves the absorption of calcium and phosphate salts, increases the volume and promotes softening of stool.

"Dufalac" for babies has a laxative effect, while not directly affecting the smooth muscles and mucosa in the large intestine. The drug promotes the migration of ammonia into the intestine from the blood, reducing the formation of nitrogen-containing toxic elements in the proximal part and sucking them in the vena cava system (lower), respectively.

The drug inhibits (slows down) the growth of salmonella. The use of "Dufalac" for infants is not addictive and does not reduce the absorption of vitamins.

The drug begins to act after twenty-four to forty-eight hours after administration. This delay is associated with the passage of the drug through the gastrointestinal tract.

The drug is indicated for chronic constipation, hepatic encephalopathy, coma and precoma, and if necessary in softening the stool, including before surgery in the anal or large intestine, postoperative period, and hemorrhoids.

Do not prescribe "Dufalac" in cases of obstruction in the intestine, galactosemia, ileostomy, colostomy, rectal bleeding caused not by hemorrhoids, intolerance to fructose or galactose, suspicions of appendicitis, hypersensitivity.

As a side effect, flatulence is possible in the early days, which usually passes by itself.

In case of an overdose, diarrhea and tenderness in the abdomen are likely. Admission in large quantities over a prolonged period with the therapy of hepatic encephalopathy with accompanying diarrhea causes disorders in the electrolyte balance. As a result, convulsions, headache, nausea, myalgia, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, arrhythmias occur. In this case, a correction of the amount of the drug taken is necessary.

How to give "Dufalac" to the newborn.

Patients under the age of three years with constipation medication is prescribed in a dosage of five milliliters. Recommended "Dufalac" for babies once a day during meals. For this, the medication is mixed with food.

As a rule, relief is noted after two days. On the recommendation of the doctor, the amount of the drug taken can be doubled if there is no effect from the originally prescribed one.

Patients aged between three years and up to six as the initial and maintenance dose are recommended five and ten milliliters. Patients from seven years of age to fourteen are fifteen and ten milliliters, respectively. Adults recommend from 15 to forty-five milliliters the first two days. After this, the drug is used in a maintenance dose (ten to twenty five milliliters).

In the treatment of precoma and coma hepatic "Dufalac" is prescribed in the form of syrup for thirty to fifty milligrams three times a day. After that, the individual amount of the drug is selected, in which the soft stool is marked as much as two or three times a day, the pH of the stool is between 5.0 - 5.5.

When applying "Dufalac" for children, parents' feedback is, to a large extent, positive. The undoubted advantage of the drug is its special laxative effect. The medication does not affect the musculature of the intestine. Its effect is aimed at stimulating peristalsis by changing the microflora and softening the stool. This removes constipation in the child.
