Creativity - what is it? Recently, this word can be heard almost everywhere. Teachers try to educate children in non-standard thinking, starting with the first class, and even there was such a position as a "creative manager". But here is the exact answer to the question: "Creativity - what is it?" - not everyone can.

This neologism is based on the English verb create, which translates as "create." For this reason, many people confuse the newfangled term and creativity, believing that creating something unusual is necessary to have creative abilities.

Psychology of Creativity

Creativity is a feature that develops only when the environment allows it. That is, it is necessary that there are role models in the environment. To develop and form this quality, a certain level of socialization is needed.

The creativity test allows you to assess the level of divergent thinking. Also, personal questionnaires and performance analysis are used for this purpose.

Two phases of creativity development

Primary develops as a general creative ability, nonspecialized in relation to a certain sphere of human activity. As a rule, the first phase begins its development at the age of three to five years. The main way to create creativity at this time is to imitate the adult as a model.

The second phase of the development of creative thinking occurs in adolescence and adolescence. During this period, its formation is based on the ability to create creativity associated with a certain field of activity. At the end of the second phase, there is a negation of its own imitative function and the former ideal. The individual either moves on to the original creativity, or remains forever in the imitation phase.

Creativity - what is it? Its parameters

Many psychologists consider this trait an ability to generate unusual and original ideas, deviate from standard thinking, the ability to quickly find a solution in problem situations. W. Simpson defined the concept of "creativity" in his own way: that this is the ability to destroy the usual order of following ideas in the thinking process.

J. Gilfrod defined the following parameters of creativity:

  1. Fluency . It involves the ability to generate many ideas for a certain amount of time.
  2. Flexibility . Ability to use different strategies to solve problems and quickly switch from one idea to another.
  3. Originality . Ability to generate non-standard and original ideas, different from conventional schemes.
  4. Development . Ability to carefully work out the ideas that have arisen.

Creativity in a person is first and foremost the ability to find an unconventional solution in different situations. Most people think of stereotypes, but this type of thinking is suitable for those who are engaged in routine activities. For example, in the profession of an accountant there is no need for non-standard thinking. But the promotion of any product requires an extraordinary approach. In the modern world of business the best positions are occupied by those who are able to think creatively.
