Corn grits. Corn as a food product

One of the world's most cultivated crops is undoubtedly corn. Due to its remarkable properties, it is widely used in agriculture, industry and, of course, in culinary arts. What is good about corn is that for the necessary purposes, you can use not only the grains themselves, but also stems, and leaves, and the root system and its other parts. Undoubtedly, one of the most famous and extremely common products made from corn, is corn groats.

In the production of cereals, the grains are crushed into the smallest fractions, in addition, the separation of the seed shells and embryos from which corn oil is made is made . Separation from the seeds of embryos provides a reduction in the concentration of fat in the croup, which, accordingly, allows it to be used for dietary purposes. In addition, the reduction in fat content slows down the oxidation of fats, which increases the shelf life of the finished product. From remote seed shells, corn bran is produced, which is not less valuable product, actively used for culinary purposes, as well as in livestock.

As a rule, the production of cereals involves the production of several varieties of the product, which depend directly on the size of the output of the cereal fractions. For example, it produces corn grinded croup, divided into five separate numbers, and the division into numbers depends on the size of grains. In addition, large corn groats are produced from which various kinds of corn flakes and corn air are produced. Also it is necessary to note also small corn groats from which corn sticks are made.

Depending on the properties of corn grain, several types of corn are distinguished. So in particular, this corn is flinty, starchy, sugary or tooth-like. Usually grinded, as well as large croup, is made from corn semi-toothed or siliceous. Excellent fine corn groats are obtained from the corn kernels of tooth-like and semi-tooth-like.

Corn cereals, which were produced from bursting or white siliceous corn, have an extremely high content of different proteins, and croups, obtained from yellow toothed or semi-toothed corn, are saturated with carotene and numerous vitamins. In general, corn groats are an excellent product of children's and dietary nutrition, in large part due to the fact that it contains a lot of fiber, starch and vegetable fibers. In addition, when cooking corn groats significantly increase in volume, and its strong steaming significantly increases its positive culinary properties.
