Southeast Asia is a warm and inviting part of the Earth. Countries located in this corner of the planet are open all year round for visitors from all over the world. Vietnam is one of those countries. Where is Vietnam? The countries of the world, which are located on the Indochina Peninsula, include Vietnam on their list.

Location - Indochina

The territory, which throughout the historical period was an apple of discord between tribes, dynasties, countries, is the Indochina Peninsula. Here is located Vietnam. Specifically, the question, "Where is Vietnam?" It can be answered that its territory occupies the eastern coastline of the peninsula. Vietnam is surrounded by the South China Sea. Neighboring countries are: China - in the north, Laos and Cambodia - western neighbors.

The place where Vietnam is located is mountainous. About three-quarters of the country's territory is covered with plateaus and mountains. The highest point is Mount Fanshipan, whose height is about 3100 m. Because of this relief, the population in places where Vietnam is located is unevenly distributed. High density - in the north and south-west of the state. The country extends more than 1,700 km from north to south, which explains the difference in climate: temperate in the north and subtropical in the south.

Historical reference

Even in the prehistoric period, in the territory where Vietnam is located, there was the state of Vanlang. Most of the women took part in the government. By the way, in the capital of Vietnam - Hanoi, there is a Museum of Vietnamese women. In ancient times, these territories were several times subjected to the occupation of neighbors from the north. North Vietnam has always existed in close connection with China. From this country came to Vietnam philosophical teachings and Buddhism. South Vietnam is a completely different state. India had a great influence here, which was reflected in the culture and religion of the proto-state of South Vietnam. Where is located, in which country - in North or South Vietnam - the cultural center of a unified modern country is difficult to say. In the north, this is Hanoi, and in the south it is Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).

As a result of centuries-long internecine wars and with the help of France in the 18th century, the north and the south united under the rule of the Nguyen. However, gradually Vietnam began to turn into a European colony. Only during the Second World War, in the situation of anarchy, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Party overthrew the French power and proclaimed Vietnam a Democratic Republic. The spread of communism to the south was hindered by the United States, which started the war with Vietnam. The desire of citizens to unite was great, and in 1976 two proto-states finally united.

Then the city changed its name several times, which is connected with the appearance of the dragon, then with the occupation of the country by China.
