Columns made of polyurethane for all tastes
The chemical industry has given builders and designers more than a dozen different materials. A wide range of applications has also been made for synthetic heterochain polymer, polyurethane. In the interior of modern houses and apartments, polyurethane columns are increasingly replacing similar products from other materials.
Structure
The architectural column itself consists of three parts:
- The capital is the upper part. It is installed between the column and the ceiling. Initially, this function was performed by pieces of wood or thick bark. Over time, the capital has become not only part of the design, but also its decoration. According to the design, it can be both a classical style and a unique author's work under the order. In the modern execution of the column, the capital may be absent.
- The trunk is the body of the column. Diameter, height can be different. There are columns smooth and fluted. This is called vertical grooves. Their number, depth and width can vary.
- The bottom is the bottom, or base. At first, its role was played by stone slabs or boards made of wood, not allowing the column to sink into the ground. The base was decorated, decorated with ornaments, it carried the main load. Decorative columns of polyurethane in such an element do not need. Light weight allows to install them on any cover without the bottom part.
The very word column is translated from the Latin language - a pillar, usually cylindrical. But they could be given a complex configuration: a square, a rectangle, a polyhedron.
Kinds
The appearance of the columns was first due to the need to prop up the roof and ceiling of the building. In ancient Egypt with its hot climate, this design helped to improve the ventilation of the room. Over time, they began to be used as a decorative element.
There are several types of classical columns:
- Doric - a monumental species, had no basis, the capital without decorations;
- Ionic - it was made of refined and refined form, all parts of the design were decorated;
- Corinthian - in execution similar and ionic, but different bell-shaped capitals;
- Tuscan - on the whole similar to the Doric, only easier execution: the base and pillar without grooves (flute);
- Composite - it looked through the features of the Corinthian and Ionic columns, the capitals were richly decorated with ornaments, figures of birds and animals.
Use in the interior
This method is well justified when decorating the appearance of a country house. "Combined" columns of polyurethane will perform two functions at once: decor and roof support. These buildings give the interior grandeur.
Inside the room, decorative columns made of polyurethane are most often used for zoning large rooms. There are a lot of uses: they help visually "raise" the ceilings, correct the proportions of the room, serve as the basis for the shelf, act as lockers or disguise supporting structures, pipes, wires.
