Choosing a practical corner for the bathroom

Bathroom is a room where moisture is constantly concentrated. It settles on the walls, accumulates in corners and niches, gets to places where it is impossible to get to eliminate it. For example, if there is at least a small gap between the bathroom and the wall, water will penetrate there during showering or other water procedures, and this leads to the appearance of fungus and mold. To avoid this, it is most convenient to use the corners for the bathroom. They are divided into two main types: the first are mounted on top of the tile, the second are stacked under it. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages.

PVC overhead angles

More common and economical option - a corner for a bathroom made of PVC, which is installed over the edge of the bath and tiles. This method is suitable for those who want to change only the bath without damaging the tiles laid. The installation of this skirting board can be done independently. First you need to clean the surface, where the product will be installed, from dust and dirt, and then carefully dry it. It is necessary to fill the gap with a sealant (now acrylic mixtures are often used for this), allow it to dry. Measure the length and width of the bathroom, according to these data, trim the curbs of the desired length. The edges of the bath can be covered with paint tape, so as not to stain it with glue. Apply "liquid nails" to the bathroom corner and press it as hard as possible onto the treated surface. The stronger and longer the pressing, the better the plinth will hold. In the place where the cut edges come into contact, it is necessary to install special connecting elements. If after the performed operations there are gaps, they must also be treated with a sealant.

Corner for the bath self-adhesive refers to the consignment, but for its installation does not require "liquid nails." This border has already applied a layer of glue, which manifests its properties when heated.

At the relative cheapness this material has a number of lacks: in due course it can turn yellow from influence of hot water, to start to be peeled off, and also to propagation of a mold. Many users say that in the original form of such a corner for the bathroom will last about a year.

Mounting the angle under the tile

The corner, which is installed under the tile, is more practical, because it will last a long time and will be protected from moisture. However, its installation is carried out only during the cladding of walls and preferably by the hands of an experienced master. Of course, this affects the price, but the result will stay about five years unchanged. Such corners are made of PVC or ceramic. The first must be covered with tiles, and the latter can be used as an independent decorative element. The gaps between the tiles are sealed with a special mortar to protect the joints, a trowel that will protect the corner from mold for a long time.

Right choice

More practical is the option to install a bathroom corner for the tile - it is less visible and prone to moisture, and also more durable. But if your plans do not include a large-scale renovation of the bathroom, the overhead corner will do. And if you entrust its installation to a professional, this element of decor will be insignificantly inscribed in the bathroom interior.
