Chokeberry - a plant with great possibilities

Prior to Russia, the aronia "reached" at the beginning of the 19th century and was first used only for decorative purposes. And since the homeland of the black cherry tree is Canada with not a tropical climate, the plant proved unpretentious. Aronia was able to take root in any conditions and on any terrain. She is not afraid of disease, and her pests do not touch the pests. But then she became interested in Michurin, and this plant found its new application.

And Michurin established that chokeberry is a very valuable medicinal plant. In particular, it concerns its fruits. They contain a lot of malic acid, and other organic acids, too. Also in the fruit of the blackberry is ascorbic acid, pectin, vitamin P, tannins, riboflavin, carotene and many more vitamins, trace elements and other nutrients. Its fruits are sweet and slightly acidic, and also a bit tart taste. And the juice of these fruits has an increased coloring ability. Its color begins with a ruby color and ends with an inky-purple color.

Arboreal ashberry retains its healing properties even after processing. And from its fruits, jams, jams, jelly and syrups are made. Also of them make a filling for pies, juice and make tea. Flavonites, which are in its composition, have the ability to eliminate the fragility of capillaries and, accordingly, increase the elasticity of the vessels. Because of the aronia, drugs are prepared that are used to treat the cardiovascular system, intestines and stomach. Still these drugs help to treat the consequences of radiation exposure.

And in a typical kitchen, you can easily make compote from chokeberry. To do this, you need 250 grams of black fruit, 0.5 cups of sugar and 0.5 liters of water. First you need to cook the syrup, that is, add sugar to the water and heat to a boil over high heat. Then carefully washed berries should be put in this syrup, allow it to boil again and cook after that another 20 minutes. Everything, compote is ready. You just need to let it cool under the lid.

Also compotes can be cooked not only from one black cherry. Chokeberry and apples add a new taste to this drink. For such compote you need two glasses of berries of mountain ash, one apple, a liter of water, 400 grams of sugar and two tablespoons of cherry juice. First you need to thoroughly clean and rinse the fruit of the black cherry. Then they are stacked in a steamer and three minutes are kept for a couple. And from the water and sugar to cook syrup. Still cherry juice is added to it before the end of the cooking process. It gives the compote the necessary acid. In the meantime, we are preparing banks in which this compote will be rolled up. In each of them, steamed rowan and apple slices. They should also be passed through the steamer. Then we fill the fruit with hot syrup and put the jars on sterilization. It should take about 10 minutes at a temperature of 85 degrees. And after its completion, the banks are rolled up.

But from the barbecue you can cook not only a compote, but a syrup. It will require 1.5 kilograms of berries, 50 cherry leaves, two liters of water, one kilogram of sugar and 30 ml of lemon juice. Rowan need to sort out, remove the spoiled berries and rinse. Then it should be put in a saucepan and add to it lemon juice and cherry leaves. All this is poured with water and boiled for half an hour, and then filtered. Then the berries should be passed through the meat grinder, and then squeeze out the juice from them. After that, the juice must be combined with the broth, add the sugar and again put the cook. And this liquid is brewed until the consistency of the syrup is obtained. Then the ready syrup from chokeberry can be poured over jars and stored for a long time.
