The composition of kvass includes many vitamins and trace elements: phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, lactic acid, as well as essential amino acids. Therefore, in folk medicine, it is used in the treatment of beriberi. The drink can improve the functioning of the intestines and stomach, prevent the reproduction of pathogenic bacteria, and also regulate the metabolism. Its preparation will not be difficult, and products for bread kvass will be found in every home. However, please note that this is a long-running process. You will need:

  • Rye bread - half loaf
  • Boiled water - 3 liters
  • Dry yeast - 25-30 grams
  • Sugar - half cup
  • Raisins

To begin with, cook rusk bread crumbs. To do this, cut it into small pieces and dry it on a baking sheet in the oven over low heat. In this case, croutons should lightly brown. Leave the bread in the oven for about 15 minutes.

To prepare the drink you can use not only rye, but also white bread with various additives, such as caraway or bran. However, the rich rich color of bread kvass will only come from rye bread.

Next, we put the prepared crackers in a three-liter jar and pour boiling water into it. Add half a cup of sugar and leave it to cool.

We raise the dry yeast in a glass of water and pour the resulting mixture into the jar (when the water in it will be hardly warm). Thoroughly mix all the ingredients.

Note that you can not add yeast to hot water, as boiling water destroys enzymes that promote fermentation.

Then cover with a saucer or lid a jar of bread kvass and leave it in a warm place to infuse for about two days.

The bread thickening that formed after kvass filtration should not be thrown away, as it can be used as a starter to prepare a second portion of bread kvass. Just replace the diluted yeast with four tablespoons of sourdough. Please note that the bread should be stored in the refrigerator. And then follow the recipe: let yourself be brewed, filter it, add raisins and sugar and again let it settle. Hide the ready infusion in the refrigerator. Thus, a refreshing summer drink - bread kvass, ready!
