How to make a soda at home without much expense?

Those who found the times of the Soviet Union, probably remember the machine, from which you could drink for one penny ordinary carbonated water, and for three - with syrup. Representatives of the older generation with nostalgia remember the smiling saleswomen standing behind the tapered vessels with the cranes: for 4 kopecks soda with a standard syrup, for 8 - with a double syrup. Now, alas, the food industry has grown so much with the chemical industry that it's frightening to even think which Mendeleev's table we use under the brand name "Citro" or "Coca-Cola." But you can prepare drinks, the taste of which we remember from childhood, and with our own hands. How to make a soda at home?

To start with, quite a bit of theory. Any soda - simple, sweet, with a variety of tastes - contains two main components. It's water and carbon dioxide. In the language of chemistry, this is a solution of CO 2 in H 2 O. Everything else: syrups, herbal decoctions, caramelized sugar are just gustatory additives. Suppose that there is clean water in any house. And where do you get this most carbon dioxide? And, most importantly, how to dissolve it in water? In a word, how to make a soda at home? The simplest way is to use a siphon. This is a container with a can of carbon dioxide. When pressing the handle, it is pumped under pressure into ordinary water, so a bubbling drink is produced in the glass. In the siphon you can pour the fruit juice, juice, compote or a decoction of herbs. In short, this is the right thing in everyday life. But now it's difficult to get a siphon, and there are a lot of such tanks. How to make a soda at home without it, is it possible?

Yes, and without any special expenses. If you like cooking, you probably have all the ingredients necessary for this in your kitchen. Remember what they do to make the dough air? That's right: add a little slaked soda to it. The textbook of chemistry for the 6th grade presents us with the simplest rule: alkali neutralizes the acid, and as a result of this simplest chemical reaction carbon dioxide is released. If we drop vinegar or lemon juice (acid) on baking soda (alkali), the expected reaction will occur: the mixture will foam, releasing bubbles. The cleverest already guessed how to make a soda at home. But nevertheless I will explain: in a glass we pour a spoonful of soda and half a spoon of citric acid, pour cold boiled water. Everything - a foamy drink is ready.

Since you learned how to make a home made soda, you can learn to make and drink on its basis. For example, "Baikal" is "our answer to Chamberlain", or rather "Coca-Cola", invented in 1967. For 3 liters of drink we need 10 g of St. John's wort, Eleutherococcus, licorice, fir needles, half a lemon and a glass of sugar. Grass and pine needles are poured hot water, let us brew for 3 hours. Filter the liquid, boil it again, ripen the sugar, chill, squeeze the lemon juice, mix it with soda.

There is another way of how to make a soda at home. It is necessary to mix the catalysts of the chemical reaction directly in the glass. Make a pear fruit from one juicy fruit, dissolve sugar in it to taste. Squeeze into this mixture juice from a third of the lemon. In a glass, pour a little soda and pour the juice. The famous drink "Duchess" is ready.
