What is vitamin P? The daily norm of vitamin P

Water-soluble vitamin P was discovered relatively recently, in 1936, by the American biochemist A. Saint Gyorgyi. The scientist noticed that ascorbic acid is not fully capable of curing subcutaneous hemorrhage in patients with scurvy guinea pigs. In this case, when untreated vegetable extracts were added to the treatment, the animals were cured.

It was then to the scientist that it occurred to him that there was at least one other substance that was fighting the disease and helping the body recover faster. As a result of the research, vitamin P was discovered, the formula of which differs significantly from many others (from English permeability). Its name was derived from the ability to improve the permeability of capillaries.

Only after some time, having investigated the chemical nature of the new substance, scientists learned that it has in its composition a whole group of biologically active elements - flavonoids. To date, there are about 150 such elements, among them: rutin, catechin, anthocyan, esculin, hesperidin and many others.

Bioflavonoids are substances of vegetable origin, which are of great benefit and value to the human body.

Vitamin P has much in common with ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Both vitamins are not only similar in their biological properties, but also contained in the same products. Vitamins C and P multiply the action of each other, so-called synergy is formed.

Useful properties of the substance

Due to its composition, vitamin P has a number of properties:

  1. Vessels and capillaries are strengthened, their structure is normalized. The walls of the vessels become more elastic, expand and contract when necessary.
  2. The active substances of the vitamin contribute to the improvement of the thyroid gland.
  3. Increases resistance to infections, the body is more active in fighting viruses and various kinds of inflammatory processes. Bioflavonoids have antibacterial properties.
  4. Contained in green tea substances called catechins contribute to the restoration of damaged cell structure.
  5. Active substances are involved in the formation of glucocorticoids, which, in turn, increase the body's resistance to many diseases.
  6. Thanks to the strengthening of the walls of blood vessels and capillaries, blood pressure is reduced and normalized.
  7. The circulation of the body improves, which, in turn, contributes to a more active supply of the brain with oxygen, increases the working capacity of a person, reduces fatigue.
  8. Vitamin components prevent hemorrhage, as well as atherosclerosis.
  9. Rutin fights bleeding gums and nosebleeds.
  10. Stimulates and normalizes the activity of the adrenal cortex.

According to experts, vitamin P extremely rarely causes hypervitaminosis, since it is rapidly excreted from the body by the kidneys. Therefore, the excess dosage does not lead to negative consequences. Moreover, an increased dose of vitamin is recommended with increased intraocular pressure.

Some experts recommend that for every 500 mg of ascorbic acid take 100 mg of bioflavonoids.

Doctors advise to make a rule: every day, at least once a day, use vitamin P containing vegetables and greens simultaneously with meat and fish dishes.
