Few people in our time have not heard of a sport such as bodybuilding (in other words, bodybuilding). Everyone at least once saw these sportsmen with powerful muscles, they certainly will not leave anyone indifferent. Some are admired by bodybuilders, while others think that they look unnatural, and some even feel a disgust when they see the body with muscles pumped up to enormous proportions. So, what is bodybuilding, what is its difference from bodybuilding?

History of occurrence

It is believed that the bodybuilding in its original form arose in ancient Greece, when for the emperors arranged entertaining performances with the participation of several soldiers. For such shows, always selected athletic men, able to scare rivals with one kind only.

Nowadays, bodybuilding is a direction in sports, which is gaining popularity among young people of all countries. In the US, the heyday of bodybuilding fell on the 50th and 60th years. A huge influence on this had a famous American bodybuilder (this is the same as the bodybuilder) Charles Atlas, who is the creator of the theory of bodybuilding. It was he who developed many exercises that promote weight gain and increase muscle mass. He founded his own company, engaged in the development of bodybuilding, as well as the promotion of bodybuilders in the modeling business.

What is bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding is a kind of sport whose main task is to maximize the development of all muscle groups and build an ideal body according to the standards set in bodybuilding. In translation from the English. This word means "body structure". A bodybuilder is a person who regularly engages in this sport, he can be a beginner or a professional. Bodybuilding is a very hard work, which ultimately leads to results, if you follow all the rules.

Basic principles

The main principle of bodybuilding is to improve your appearance until the athlete is satisfied and does not find spiritual harmony with his body. But to improve and develop their data in this sport, a whole system is invented, adhering to which you can quickly become the owner of an ideal body:

  1. Regular activities in the gym include physical exercises with weights (barbells, weights), which give a huge load on all muscle groups.
  2. A well-thought-out diet, containing not only healthy food, but also various steroid supplements, without which it is practically impossible to build muscle mass.
  3. Individual training program, which must be coordinated with a personal trainer or a fitness consultant.

Every beginning athlete should learn the basics of bodybuilding, because, in fact, a bodybuilder is a person who knows the features of his body and learns his capabilities.

What is the difference between bodybuilding and bodybuilding?

If you look at this question from a practical point of view, then there are no differences. Bodybuilding originated in the USSR, while his brother has a foreign origin. Now it's rare where you can hear the word "bodybuilding", because athletes are used to calling this sport bodybuilding. In fact, a bodybuilder is the same bodybuilder, because both pursue one goal - to train your body to the ideal proportions.

Let's turn to history to understand the difference between the two concepts: during the Soviet era, athletes could not look like modern bodybuilders, because many protein supplements and protein amplifiers were not available in the USSR. When you see photos of famous Soviet bodybuilders of the 80s, you should know that they all gained muscle mass naturally. Yes, maybe their food was not balanced, because a lot of protein is needed to gain weight, but our athletes did not use the gains and other proteins that abound in the modern sports nutrition market.

Bodybuilding as a profession

This sport, like any other sport, is of two kinds: amateur and professional. Let's talk about the second kind, because every person involved in fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle, entitled to be called a bodybuilder, even an amateur.

Professional athletes are dedicated to bodybuilding all their lives, they do not miss a single training, and in the end this hard work becomes the meaning of their life. However, they deliberately choose this way, because it promises them many opportunities, fame and recognition. Do you remember how popular was Arnold Schwarzenegger? A bodybuilder, actor, model and, finally, a politician - no matter what business he does, he will forever remain in the memory of millions of people as the most famous American bodybuilder. By the way, for many of our compatriots he still remains an idol.
