Biologically active additives (BAA)

From the process of nutrition depends on the growth and development of the body, human health.

At this time, adverse changes in nutrition are associated with the environment: with the concentration of toxic substances, with the contamination of surface water and land. Negative factors also include non-compliance with the structure and diet, modern production technologies and a number of others.

According to the results of Russian studies, in the territory of the country were found such violations in nutrition, as:

  1. Protein Deficiency.
  2. Excess fat.
  3. Lack of PUFA.
  4. Deficiency of vitamins A, E, C, group B, etc.
  5. Lack of bioelements: iodine, selenium, fluorine, zinc, iron, calcium, etc.
  6. Deficiency of ballast substances.

The lack of mineral substances, vitamins leads to the emergence and development of a number of diseases: endocrine, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, immune, oncological. In addition, the demand for these nutrients increases due to poor ecology and the growth of stressful situations.

Excessive amount of refined products causes many pathologies.

Separately, we should focus on the energy value of the diet. The total calorie content of the diet, which is 2,200 kcal for women, and 2600 for men, does not cover the body's nutritional needs in full. If you increase the amount of food to five or six thousand kilocalories at low energy costs, such pathologies as atherosclerosis, obesity, diabetes, etc. will develop. Therefore, scientists have found a different way to solve this problem.

The answer was the development of biologically active additives , or dietary supplements, the release of biologically active substances from natural sources, any substrate - animal, microorganism or plant.

The achievements of bioorganic chemistry and biotechnology have made it possible to create bioadditives, one of the most effective and affordable ways of replenishing the deficiency of essential nutrients.

Since 1985, began selling food supplements in Russia, since 1997 - began to register them.

In the United States, more than 20 years used BAA, in Japan - more than 50 years. Admission of bioadditives is a widespread phenomenon: in Germany - about 60% of the population, in Japan - 90%, in the USA - 80%.

In Austria, dietary supplements are considered a separate category of products, the middle link between medicines and food.

In Germany, what is intended for ingestion can be either a drug or a food product. Here in pharmacies can also sell products.

In the Netherlands, Belgium and Greece, only vitamins and minerals are classified as bioadditives, the doses of which are strictly controlled. In Russia, groups of dietary supplements are much broader.

For the production of biological supplements natural sources are used: mineral raw materials, animal, vegetable, and in rare cases use chemical, biotechnological methods. Bioadditives are also drugs that affect the microflora of the digestive tract - prebiotics and probiotics. Biologically active additives can be presented in the following forms: infusions, extracts, balms, powders, liquid and dry concentrates, syrups, tablets, capsules, etc.

You should know that dietary supplements are by no means a substitute for the diet, they only complement it. Differences between food supplements and medications:

  1. Supplements can create an optimal diet.
  2. The realization of bioadditives is carried out separately from the products, in a certain dosage.
  3. For biologically active additives is not typical pharmacological effect.
  4. BAD does not have side effects.

Bioadditives have a supporting effect on the work of various systems of the human body.

Thus, biologically active additives make up the total deficit of vital nutrients, they help to stop the increase in the incidence of diseases.
