Strictly speaking, the first rudiments of this martial art appeared in the 16th century, when the first more or less reliable predecessors of pistols were invented. They were all single-shot and could not become weapons of mass destruction, but it was these first pistols that could replace the heavy spears.

The heyday of combat weapons survived in the 50-60-ies. XIX century. It was then that the revolvers assembled using the capsule system appeared. Cowboys and bandits of the Wild West used in their disassembly is the capsule revolvers. The impetus to the development of shooting as a kind of martial art was also the beginning of the Civil War, during the battles of which only those who could quickly grab a gun and fire could win.

In the late nineteenth-century Russian Empire, popularity was gained by shooting "in Macedonian": a man took a pistol in each hand and shot simultaneously, and even on the go. Without a doubt, military weapons in the hands of the Slavs became a truly deadly thing.

Combat shooting in the XX century and today

The modern stage in the history of the development of martial arts associated with the use of military weapons, started about 90 years ago - in the 20 years of the last century. At that time, street gangs were armed no worse than individual army units, so the police departments of different states had to develop a standardized system of self-defense of officers from bandits armed with firearms.

The combat weapon, therefore, was retrained from the means of attack in the way of defense. By the end of the 1930s, every US and British policeman could proudly say that he knew how to defeat an armed band with only one gun.

In the USSR of the same time, the tactics of aimed shooting were actively propagated. It was good that after a shot at point-blank range, a combat cold weapon could be no longer used to defeat an enemy.

Many European developments later also entered into the training program for Israeli army soldiers . Based on the development of these developments, a style of combat shooting, called "Israeli", was formed. It is he who today occupies the first place in the world in popularity.

The main advantage of the Israeli style is the possibility of using such a striking fighter factor as fear, it's good for him. If other styles teach themselves to behave and preach a coolness and prudence, then the Israeli style requires from the person just unbalance.

In Russia today, this style can be learned in special schools of combat shooting. Training is possible both in the field, close to real conditions, and within the walls of the computer class. The first option will still be preferable.
