Felting for beginners: a description of the technique with a detailed master class. Felting your own hands
The ancient art of felting out of wool in recent years has become a fairly common hobby among skilled needlewomen. This technique is also called felting or filtering, and with it you can make a huge variety of cute little things: jewelry, toys, as well as clothing, jewelry and even shoes. Perhaps, this is the most simple occupation with which a novice needlewoman can calmly cope. The technique of felting involves two types of felting: wet and dry. For the former, certain skills are needed, and the latter is suitable for people of any level of preparation.
What do you need to felting the wool?
What is the difference between needles?
Those who master the techniques of felting with their own hands, it is worthwhile to know that the felting process is carried out by metal needles of different thickness with a bend at one end, in order to be comfortable to hold, and notches to tangle the fibers on the other.
Technics of dry felting
Such techniques as felting (for beginners this is especially true) allows on the first attempt to create soft beads, toys and flowers, that is, three-dimensional elements. On the volumetric sponge put the amount of wool fibers, which exceeds the size of the final version, as the material will sit on a third. These same fibers can be placed in a silicone mold, for inexperienced users it is desirable without a bottom (so as not to break the needle and not to break hands). To create a bead, it is enough to roll the wool in the form of a ball.
How to create composite crafts
If you have already created an unpretentious decor element in the technique of felting, you can start creating more complex designs consisting of several parts. For example, to create a matryoshka you will need two balls that are dumped together and wrapped in a layer of wool of the same color. Next, a thin needle is pinned on the face, clothes and other details and ornaments. To make a toy of large size in the style of felting, it is better for beginners and experienced needlewomen to use sintepon as a basis. He is also shaped with a large needle, and already on him pile a wool layer, which is intertwined with the core, becoming an indivisible product. The advantage of dry felting is that, if the completion is unsuccessful, the appearance of irregularities does not have to be re-done all over again, it is enough to add the necessary amount of fibers and to weld them with a thin needle to the main product.
