Battery marking: characteristic and designation

With the help of various inscriptions to the buyers, the manufacturer provides information that can have a certain value. So in this case - the device and marking of batteries are well described on them. That's just what there is? If you read the information, what will she tell us?

Why is it necessary to mark the batteries?

It allows you to judge a number of parameters and properties. What can the battery marking tell us? Date of manufacture, characteristics, like capacity and rated voltage, country of manufacture and many other things are indicated on the label. It should be noted that the features of the designation may vary depending on which country manufactured the product. Thus, the marking of Japanese batteries differs from those produced in the CIS. But give everything in order.

What about batteries?

The battery is such a product, the production date of which has a significant impact on its characteristics, valuable to the consumer. On how fresh a source of power is before us, its durability and efficiency depend. Therefore, when buying and evaluating not only technical parameters, such as: the density of the electrolyte and the indicator of the voltmeter, but also the marking of the battery. This fact is complicated by the fact that there are no uniform standards. If we talk about marking, then here is the maximum that can be done - to separate the individual brands into small groups. Regarding the shelf life of most manufacturers, more or less agreed on how many batteries can stand:

  1. For antimony, this period is up to three months.
  2. Hybrid can be stored six.
  3. Calcium batteries have a period of twelve months.

One interesting aspect should be noted. So, an important element is not only the marking of the batteries, the year of manufacture and the month, but also with what type of power source we are currently dealing with.

What parameters are important for us?

For us, the following are important properties of batteries, for which there is a marking on the case:

  1. Nominal and reserve capacity. The first parameter is determined by the amount of energy that is given by a fully charged battery during a twenty-hour discharge. It is measured in ampere-hours (Ah). Let's look at an example: we have a battery with a capacity of 40 Ah. For twenty hours she can give us a current of 2.5A. In practice, the reserve capacity is also important. This parameter is measured in minutes. So, if we consider batteries for cars that experience a load of 25A and the voltage dropped to 10.5V, then the quality indicator will work at least 1.5 hours. In this period of time, she will be able to work for herself, and instead of the generator.
  2. Rated voltage of the battery. It is formed from the parameters of various batteries, and it makes sense to check this indicator in those cases when there is a choice of a complex device.
  3. Cold scrolling current. With this parameter, it is possible to start the battery at a low temperature. What does this mean in practice? The current of cold scrolling is the value that the battery can give at a temperature of -18 o C in ten seconds, provided that the voltage is not less than 7.5V. The higher this index, the easier it will be to start the car engine in winter.

It can be recorded completely incomprehensible marking of batteries. Date of manufacture - ab553446bu - that's how an ordinary person to understand what this means? So that you do not have such questions, let's move on to how to be able to read and understand what is written.

Labeling of batteries produced in the CIS

If we talk about those products that are distributed to us, then we are interested in six parameters:

  1. Short data aging. This information, placed left to right, indicates the number of cans that are used in the battery, its purpose and capacity, the type of lid and battery (dry-charged or flooded).
  2. Rated voltage. Most modern models of cars and motorcycles use batteries with this parameter equal to 12V.
  3. Battery capacity. Indicated in ampere-hours and indicates the amount of charge that is given at use. So, if the battery has indicators of 20 Ah and 12V, then it means that at a voltage of 120V it will be able to work only 120 minutes. If this figure is reduced by 10 times to 12V, then the battery will be able to support the device for 20 hours.
  4. Backup capacity.
  5. Starting current. Measured in amperes. The higher this parameter, the better the engine is started with a starter. Especially relevant is this parameter for motorists in winter.
  6. Battery weight in kilograms.
  7. Signs of polarity. This parameter is ignored by many, but in vain. After all, if you do not take it into account, then it may turn out that the length of the wire simply did not suffice, and the battery simply can not be connected. There are two types of polarity: direct and reverse. So, if the plus is on the left, then we are dealing with the first type. When placed on the right, this is the reverse polarity.

We examined what the "battery marking" characteristic is. Now let's get acquainted with the properties of these devices.

Space, FB, Uno, Dominator, FireBall, "Kursk battery"

For example, their marking of the battery is as follows: 0716 1 25346. The first four digits indicate the production date. First comes the month (the seventh), and then the year (sixteenth). The unit is used to indicate the shift that the battery has been assembled. The last five digits indicate the serial number of the battery. This indicator is reset at the beginning of the new month.

The marking of the battery, which refers to the heavy group, is slightly different. We take the number: 14016143. This tells us about the following parameters: this battery has a capacity of 140 Ah. It was established in 2016, in the first half of the year, in its fourth month (April) by Brigade No. 3. As you can see, nothing complicated.

"Tyumen Bear", Arctic Batbear, Tyumen Batbear, "Yamal"

They have the battery marking on the side opposite the one where the central label is. Conventional devices are marked with six digits, the first two being the month, and the other four being the year. So, 032016 means that the battery was manufactured in March 2016. For labeling a heavy group, only four digits are used. The variant just considered will be marked as 0316.

"Akteh", "Orion", "The Beast"

For their marking, four-digit numbers in the form of MMGG are used. So, 0316 means that this battery was manufactured in March 2016.

Cobat, Titan (Euro Silver, Standart, Arctic Silver, Vaiper, Asia Silver)

They use a combination of numbers and letters. There are five symbols in the code. The first indicates the day of the week when the device was made. The second and third symbols are used to designate the ordinal number of the week (that is, from one to fifty-three). As a quad, the Latin letter is used, which means a year (so when choosing a battery, you need to study the manufacturer's table). The last character is used to indicate the brigade number. Take the number 208A1. It is deciphered as follows:

  1. 2 - manufactured on Tuesday.
  2. 08 - in the eighth week.
  3. A - in 2016.
  4. 1 - the first shift.

VARTA, BOSCH

The marking code on the top cover is located. It consists of as many as twenty-four characters. But do not worry - we only need three of them. The fourth symbol stands for the year, and the fifth and the sixth for the month. Let's take an example: G2C6030520991 536528 82E 09. 6 - this means that the battery was produced in 2016, and 03 - in March.

Mutlu

It has a six-digit code. The first symbol indicates the line number where the battery was collected, the second is the year, the third and fourth are the month, and the fifth and sixth are the number of the assembly. Take the number 460319. This means that the battery was produced on the fourth line of nineteenth march 2016.

Furukawa Battery (SuperNova), Panasonic

They marking is carried out on the principle of HH.MM.GG. So, if the battery figures are 180316, it means that the battery was manufactured on March 18, 2016.

Topla, Moratti

Here, fourteen characters are used for marking. The third and fourth signify the year of production. And the fifth and sixth - a week. So, if we take the marking F1160600941864, it means that we have a battery that was manufactured in February 2016.
