What is a power amplifier and what is it for?

A power amplifier is a special electronic device designed to convert a small electrical signal that comes from a source into a more powerful signal. After all, to control electro-acoustic instruments-converters, for example, headphones or loudspeakers, a powerful initial signal without distortion is required, and the source often can not imagine the desired signal power or distorts it with undesirable influences.

The power amplifier can be either an independent separate device with its own panel and control system, and be an internal element of some device and be soldered into a hybrid circuit. This device is the latest link in any amplification circuit.

The power amplifier can be distinguished by its application. Usually there are two main areas of use: household and professional. Also, they can be divided into the single-cycle and two-stroke power amplifiers according to the execution schemes. Single-ended operate in the so-called linear gain mode. In this mode, the current flows through the transistor during the full period.

The power amplifier is in absolutely any device or device that reproduces the audio signals of the widest frequency spectrum. Since the primary signal that is read out, initially usually has quite a small power, to transfer it to other devices and you need to use amplifiers. Such devices can be found in any mobile phone, tape recorder, in computers and laptops and even in children's toys that can talk (which have speakers). In such household appliances, household amplifiers are also used. The purpose of such devices is the amplification of the electrical signal to the values of the sound range that are capable of perceiving the human ears of the average average person (usually from 15 to 22 kilohertz). It should be noted that with age, the range is significantly reduced (mainly its upper limit falls), hearing becomes less sensitive - and most people of the age are not able to perceive sounds at a frequency of more than 16-17 kilohertz.

In the industry, professional amplifiers have become widespread, for example, a device such as a power transmission amplifier. It is used for sound notification in administrative buildings, industrial large enterprises and open spaces, stadiums and entertainment centers. Their purpose is to strengthen and transmit a sound signal for the organization of broadcasting (signal broadcasting) at various large objects.

The appearance of such a device as a power amplifier can be very diverse and vary greatly depending on its application and purpose. There may also be specific differences in the design. For example, the sound power amplifier has a special system for playback, protection from water and moisture, a permanent ventilation system. All this in the aggregate provides a much longer term for the use of sound reinforcement equipment in conditions of maximum loads.
