Azerbaijan: attractions and most interesting places to see

In the south-eastern part of Transcaucasia, the beautiful country of Azerbaijan stretches. With its tourist routes it has been known since the time of the Soviet Union. Only now they have become much more. There are tours for all tastes here: beach holidays in such resort towns as Baku, Khachmaz and Khudat, and rest on thermal waters in Massaly, Naftalan, Gusar and Baku. But the most popular were and still are sightseeing tours with a visit to historical, cultural sites and natural sites. It is for this reason that many tourists are eager to visit Azerbaijan. Places of interest in this country are located literally in every city. There are over 130 museums, theaters, galleries, mosques, mausoleums and other attractive objects that can not be seen in one round.

The largest city of the country is Baku. In addition, it is the capital of the country. This is a modern city, fascinating guests with the peculiar charm of the East. It is recommended to start a country tour from here. By its structure, the city is divided into three parts: the old city, Soviet-era districts, the modern part. The symbol of modern Baku are the Flame Towers, located on a high hill. This is a complex consisting of three high-rise structures, constructed in the form of stylized flame tongues. Today they are the highest constructions in the country. And this is only the beginning of the list of the most interesting places that Azerbaijan provides for tourists. Attractions are located in the old part of the city. The most popular is the Maiden Tower, towering on a rock. It is built in the form of a cylinder, whose height reaches 30 meters. The inner space of the structure has seven tiers, each of which is separated by a stone arch. This building is unique, but it is still unknown when and for what purpose it was erected. No less interesting is the Shirvanshahs palace, which in the 15th century was the main port on the Caspian Sea.

What can you look at when you arrive in Azerbaijan? Attractions are also in 70 kilometers from Baku. These are rock carvings of Kobystan, which include 4000 rocky sites, caves, cemeteries, which stretch over an area of more than 100 square kilometers. Plots depicted on the rocks, quite accurately convey the way of life of people who once lived on these lands. The most valuable site is the rock, on which the inscription is written in Latin.

We continue to explore the attractive places that Azerbaijan is famous for. Attractions include in their list and such a unique structure, as the palace of Sheki khans, towering in the city of Sheki. Now there is a museum here. The building of the XVIII century is built in Persian style. It consists of two floors. The facade part of the building is decorated with plot drawings, plant and geometric patterns.

The sights of Azerbaijan include in their list a lot of mosques, including the mosque of Mohammed Ibn Abu Bakr, built in the beginning of the XI century. A little later, Juma and Lezgi were built. It is recommended to visit the ancient city of Ganja, which lies at the foot of the Maly Kavkaz Ridge. In 1139, there was a strong earthquake, which resulted in the formation of a number of lakes, among them Maralgol, Goygol, Ordekgol, Jeyrangol.

Among the natural attractions it is impossible not to remember the fiery mountain of Yanardag, which is located on the Apsheron peninsula. The mountain really burns. This is due to the fuel of natural gas, which then and there bursts out of its depths. And near the village of Alyat there are mud volcanoes. Among other interesting places can be identified village Kish, located near the town of Sheki. Here remains a unique monument - the Apostolic Church.

If someone thinks that after reading the description of the sights and viewing the photos of Azerbaijan, he has already seen and learned about this country, he is very mistaken. The beauty of these places and unique monuments can not be conveyed through photographs. This must be seen with your own eyes.
