Itkul Lake in Khakassia

From the very beginning it should be noted that the name of Itkul has lakes in the Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk regions and in Khakassia. Common to them besides the name is freshwater. Itkul is a toponym, that is, the name of a geographical object. In Russia there are 10 of them - villages, villages, settlements, railway stations. There are four lakes, one of which, Big Itkul, is located in the Chelyabinsk region. There are similar names that differ only one letter, and also toponyms - in the Siberian Federal District there is a natural reservoir Utkul, and not Lake Itkul. The Altai region has two more villages, a river and recreation center with the name of Utkul, and is absolutely devoid of any geographical object known as Itkul.

The homeland of tens of thousands of lakes

"Blue edge" is so often called the Southern Urals because of its lakes, the number of which is 3170, and the area occupied by them is up to 2100 square meters. Km. 39 natural reservoirs are recognized as natural monuments of regional importance.

Among them Itkul is a lake, which is one of the most beautiful places in the Chelyabinsk region, in the north of which it is located. A beautiful pond occupies an area of about 30 square meters. Km, in length it stretched for 7 km, in width on 5. The lake is completely a security object with a total length of the border of 31.04 km, 21.53 of which pass through the territory of the Verkhneufaleiskiy urban district.

Main attraction

Among the famous sights there is the famous Shaitan-stone, the 10-meter rock-remains, sung by PP Bazhov, which is an independent monument of nature. Naturally, the picturesque rock has many legends, one of which is called "Golden Hair". According to the same legend, Shaitan-stone was the home of Poloz. After that in 1973-1976. Because of the activity of the pumping station built on the west bank for the transfer of the lake's water to Chusovaya, the water level decreased by 2.5 m, a cave opened beneath the rock.

Geographical information

The deepest place of the reservoir reaches almost 17 m with an average depth of about 7. The total length of the coastline is 15 km. The height above sea level, on which the lake is located, is 273 meters. Itkul is a lake with a rocky and precipitous eastern shore and a more or less gentle southwest. The opposite southeast has a cut of rocks, very interesting in the composition of minerals - there are large crystals (up to 10 cm) of black hornblende. Grenades and chrome spinel are often found. Special attention should be paid to the beaches of the southeastern coast with white sand, in which garnet crystals, sometimes quite large, gleam, which is why they are called "pomegranate beaches". The lake is encircled by mountains (the highest of them is Capabayka reaches 544 m above sea level) and beautiful dense forests. At the foot of the mountain runs a small river of the same name. Its name is translated from the Bashkir language as "black bai", or the rich man. Itkul is a lake that feeds on a lot of streams and streams, but only one source - Istok.

Sights of the Bashkir lake

300 years of the shore of the reservoir are inhabited by Bashkirs, the same number of years and the same-named Bashkir village of Itkul, located, like the village of Bautovo, on the northern shore of the lake. In this village there is a monument to the heroes of the war of 1812, the Bashkirs of the tribe "rubbish", who came to the Russian troops in Paris. Even near the village of Bautovo there is a hill with a forest cut down at the top. As a result, there is a beautiful view of Lake Itkul (photo attached). The peculiarity of the reservoir is added by a group of boulders located closer to the middle and resembling cows wandering into the water. This nameless island, or simply "pebble," stretched out to a length of 125 meters. In addition, there is also a coin beach, the rocks of the Ship, the rock ridge Altash, on the outskirts of the village, the same name with the lake, there are the so-called Itkul gates - there are centuries-old poplars, touching the crowns.

Lake, praised by PP Bazhov

This wonderful corner of nature was described by PP Bazhov in his work "Demidov's caftans", in which the singer of the Urals gives his interpretation to the name "Meat lake". He writes that the water in the lake is of unusual clarity and transparency, but a little reddish, as if meat was rinsed in it. Others explain the name of the richness of fish in the waters of the lake. With the factory owner Demidov another "meat" story is connected. For the disobedience and rebellion of the Bashkir population against the construction on the bank of the plant, Demidov wanted to poison the lake, ordering him to drop the chopped cow carcasses into it. Ostensibly since that time the Sacred Lake began to be called Meat. This story also told the world PP Bazhov.

Archaeological treasure

Call it and "Second Turgoyak with the shores of Arkaim." Turgoyak is also a large freshwater lake, located in the same area, near the city of Miass, and also a natural monument. Arkaim is a large archaeological center. With the fortified settlement of the Middle Bronze Age, located all in the same Chelyabinsk region, Itkul related archaeological finds found in many places of the coastline. It can be judged from them that in the 3rd millennium BC here blacksmith, pottery and other kinds of crafts flourished. And man lived on these shores and in the 7th millennium BC. No archaeological expedition returned empty-handed, valuable finds were always brought, and on the shore numerous traces of ancient settlements were discovered.
