Antifreeze green: what are the features?

Antifreeze, or as it is also called "anti-freezing" motorists, is a special cooling liquid that is poured into a separate plastic tank for smooth operation of the engine even at extreme temperatures. Unlike simple water, this substance does not freeze at 0 degrees Celsius (hence "anti-freeze") and retains its properties even at 40 degrees below zero. Also, due to its high viscosity, antifreeze effectively cools the ICE, thereby preventing the risk of boiling the car. In principle, it should be at hand at the owner of the car at any time of the year, but its service life is not eternal. At least once a season, the fluid needs to be changed. But which antifreeze to choose? Green or ordinary - blue? In this article we will consider all the features of the first type (the second is for most consumers) and try to find out which one is better.

Composition

Antifreeze g11 green consists of a special non-freezing liquid. It can be either ethylene glycol or propylene glycol. In addition, the "anti-freeze" includes various additives in the form of additives. They significantly increase the wear resistance of the liquid - in the summer, even at the highest temperatures, a motor with such an antifreeze will never boil. In winter, the use of these components allows you to spend as little time as possible on warming up.

Does color matter?

In general, the antifreeze green does not have any supernatural properties, just like the usual blue tosol. Often, many companies paint coolant just to attract more attention (a cunning marketing move). Foreign manufacturers are especially fond of doing it. However, there is another side to the coin. It may also be that the antifreeze green is painted under a certain kind of car. In the operating manual, the manufacturer always indicates which liquid is best poured into the tank - red, green or blue. That there were no disputes and misunderstanding among drivers about the viscosity and composition, the liquid is painted in a certain color. But it happens very rarely, so choosing the right color option is simply not practical.

Is it possible to mix the imported antifreeze "Nord" (green) with the Russian "Tosol"?

It is best not to engage in such experiments. And even if the composition of these two liquids is the same, it is not advisable to interfere with them and fill them in one tank. Such amateur performance can lead to the most unpredictable consequences. As an example, you can call a constant smell in the cabin of the car, which can not be eliminated, various precipitations and even the failure of the radiator. In addition, mixing antifreeze green with blue is not economical - it's a fact!

Conclusion

Thus, there is not much difference between the use of blue and green antifreeze. Therefore, when choosing to pay attention to the recommendations of the manufacturer and only then decide which color you prefer. But in any case, for a green liquid you have to overpay, so it will be expedient to use the old good antifreeze (especially if you own a domestic transport).
