Abstinence syndrome. What is it and how to deal with it?

The phrase "withdrawal syndrome" at least once in my life I've heard, probably, every person. But lucky for those who know that this is only in theory. And what about those who encountered this phenomenon in practice? We'll talk about this in this article.

An abstinence syndrome is a severe condition of the body (both psychologically and physically). The consequence of abstinence is the refusal of alcohol or narcotic substances (including nicotine), to the regular use of which a person has become addicted. In people, abstinence is often called a hangover, breaking. As a rule, a hangover is called an abstinence syndrome caused by a refusal of alcohol; Withdrawal - withdrawal caused by deprivation of drugs. But, regardless of what substance is devoid of the body, the symptomatology has much in common. What exactly?

So, the symptoms of withdrawal symptoms are as follows. Let's start, perhaps, with the manifestations of the nervous system. This irritability, tension, lack of objective reasons of anxiety, insomnia, the inability to concentrate, aggressiveness. Some people tend to underestimate such manifestations. In fact, the result of withdrawal can become depression, which, in turn, can lead to the emergence of thoughts about suicide. There is also the risk that the level of aggression will grow so much that a person who does not control himself can damage the people around him. Therefore, the manifestations of the nervous system must be taken into account!

And, naturally, physical manifestations of abstinence cause most concern. These include pain syndrome, nausea, vomiting, weakness throughout the body, diarrhea (or constipation), tachycardia (increased heart rate), bradycardia (decreased heart rate), increased (sometimes lowering) of blood pressure, increased sweating, tremor ( Trembling of the hands), a sense of lack of air. Unfortunately, this is not all the variants of the manifestation of the withdrawal syndrome. For everything here depends on how strong the body is initially, and also on how long it has been influenced by alcohol or drugs. An important role is played by how sharply the organism was deprived of the substance that caused the dependence. The more sharply this happened, the sharper the manifestations of abstinence.

Symptoms of the withdrawal syndrome have been clarified. And now the question naturally arises: "How to remove the withdrawal syndrome?". Of course, everyone close to a person who has addiction wants to do it easily and quickly, preferably at home. But, more often than not, it's just impossible. Strictly speaking, without the intervention of physicians can only relatively simply pass the syndrome of nicotine abstinence and a slight hangover. In other cases it is worthwhile to seek the help of specialists who will monitor the patient's condition, for it is simply impossible to measure some vital signs at home, as well as to provide the necessary assistance. In special institutions detoxification (in other words, detoxification) of the body (including injections and droppers) is carried out, as well as treatment of those complications that have arisen in the process of using substances that cause dependence. But even after the withdrawal syndrome is removed, do not relax. People who after breaking or hangover stopped using "dope", very little. Usually requires a long work with a psychologist, rehabilitation. Because physical dependence, as practice shows, is much easier to overcome than psychological. And, it's worth repeating, - only experts can do it professionally (which must have the appropriate license for that)! Therefore, believe the ads on the pillar, promising to get rid of addictions for 1 day forever - not an option!

But who is forewarned is armed, and, therefore, you now know how to behave in a difficult situation!
