Herpes on the back: symptoms, treatment and prevention

The last decade has been characterized by the activation of a viral disease such as herpes. So, according to the latest statistical data, this disease in a latent form is found in almost every third person in the world. In addition, every year, its new manifestations are diagnosed, for example, shingles or as it is also called - herpes on the back.

Causes

First thing to clarify, what is herpes? Herpes is the virus of the family Herpesviridae - Varicella Zoster, which is also the causative agent of a disease such as chicken pox. In addition, its distinctive feature is the fact that once inside the human body, it remains forever in it. But if the virus is initially in an inactive state, then under certain conditions it becomes active.

Attention! Herpes on the body harms not only the skin, but also the nervous system.

Also the main predisposing factors are:

  • Weakened cellular immunity.
  • Elderly age (over 45 years).
  • Conducting chemical or radiation therapies in cancer diseases.
  • Diseases of the blood.
  • Constant stress or serious emotional distress.
  • Conducting organ or bone marrow transplants.
  • Severe hypothermia.
  • Reception of hormonal drugs.

Herpes: symptoms, photos and periods of percolation

At the initial stage, this disease is characterized by what causes digestive upset, weakness and numbness in the body. Also, there are cases of a small temperature and pain in those areas of the back, where the herpetic eruptions will subsequently form. As a rule, the initial stage lasts from 4-6 days.

After this, the active phase of the disease begins, when on the body, along the nerves, the increased vesicles containing serous fluid begin to form. As practice shows, most often these rashes are localized on the projection of intercostal nerves or on hips. In its appearance, this rash is similar to vesicles, which are located on a dense and reddened skin.

Attention! In violation of the integrity of the formations erosive spots appear, having a reddish tinge.

In addition, in places of localization of this rash there is a strong burning sensation, intensifying, as a rule, at night. There are also cases when symptoms of herpes are characterized by a violation of tactile sensations.

After the active phase of the disease passes, the temperature begins to fall, and the general well-being of the person begins to improve gradually. But it should be understood that the frequency of its relapses directly depends not only on the state of immunity, but also on the complex of medical measures that must be taken to avoid possible complications.

Diagnostics

First of all, after finding a similar symptomatology, it is necessary to take oneself in hand and not think: "Oh God, I have herpes, what should I do?". As practice shows, self-medication often leads to more frequent relapses, since it eliminates only the effect, but not the cause. Therefore, the best option, in this case, will be a referral to a specialist who will perform a primary examination and, if necessary, prescribe certain diagnostic procedures. The main ones are: a blood test for antibodies and cytology.

Treatment

As practice shows, after a properly performed diagnosis, everything that is needed - home treatment of herpes, which consists in taking antiviral drugs, for example, such as tablets "Acyclovir", "Valtrex". Also these same antiviral drugs are prescribed and in the form of ointments, which must be periodically applied to the affected areas of the skin (ointment "Bonafton", "Panavir"). In addition, it should be remembered that the use of glucocorticosteroid ointments or a variety of hormonal preparations will not only not bring the desired effect, but can also lead to aggravation of the course of the disease.

It should also be noted that home treatment of herpes can not be successful without the use of immunostimulants. "Polioksidon", "Cycloferon" preparations were especially successful.

Important! The use of immunostimulating drugs without a doctor's prescription is not only inefficient, but also dangerous for the future health of the body as a whole.

When severe pain occurs, it is advisable to use gels and ointments with acetaminophen, lidocaine, naproxen or ibuprofen as an easy analgesic.

Practice shows that herpes on the back, the treatment of which was complex and timely, takes place within 2-3 weeks. And the only reminder of him are small and subtle painful sensations that go on for a month.

Is it contagious

It's no secret that as soon as one of the family members or close friends has this disease, it is quite natural that the vast majority of people think only of whether the herpes on the back is contagious or not.

But, despite the fact that the herpes virus is considered a very contagious disease, it is this species that is rare enough, and usually in the autumn-spring period. It should also be remembered that people with high immunity have a very low probability of contracting this disease. But, given the current situation, we have to state that, unfortunately, every year more and more people are diagnosed with herpes on the back. And if comparatively recently it was found only among the elderly, today even younger people become its "victims" as well.

So, catch herpes on the back is possible with the following conditions:

  • By the close contact of a person that has never been sick with chickenpox, with a sick herpes. Although, as practice shows, in the presence of strong immunity, such probability is zero.
  • With a decrease in the body's defenses.

It should be remembered that herpes on the back is transmitted only when fresh bubbles appear on the body. Once they dry up and crust, the virus is considered inactive and, accordingly, harmless.

Important! With prolonged contact of children with herpes, they subsequently develop chickenpox.

The child has herpes, what to do

As practice shows, in children, the external manifestations of the virus of the Herpesviridae family - Varicella Zoster - are similar in many respects to chickenpox, which leads to the fact that most parents lose precious time, thereby prolonging the period of the disease. A distinctive feature of this disease in children is its unexpected start, characterized by a high temperature, which can last from 2-4 days. It is interesting that, in addition to fever, there are no other symptoms of malaise. Further, after the temperature subsides, rashes appear on the baby's body with a pink tinge. In most cases, they do not cause serious problems and over time can pass by themselves, but it should be borne in mind that during this period the child may refuse to eat and be capricious for any reason.

Since the mechanism of its occurrence is poorly known, there is currently a discussion about whether herpes on the back affects the development of diseases such as meningitis, pneumonia, and hepatitis.

Treatment with folk remedies

In the treatment of any disease, there is a traditional and non-traditional treatment. There was no exception to this disease. So, what does traditional medicine recommend in this case?

Herbal compresses

Brew any bitter herb (celandine, wormwood) 1 tablespoon per 200 g of boiling water. Next, we moisten the napkin in this infusion and salt a pinch of salt. After that, we tie to the affected area, and cover with a towel. Hold for 30 minutes and clean. It is recommended to repeat 4-5 times a day.

Propolis

We buy pre-ground propolis and fill it with hot alcohol medical. After this, we insist on it in a dry and non-heated room and, using a water bath, evaporate all the alcohol from it. Next, mix it with pine resin, animal fat and wax, which is recommended to grind in advance. After that, we heat the resulting mixture on a small fire to a homogeneous mass and leave it in a cool place for several hours. Apply the resulting ointment to the affected skin 2-3 times a day for 1-2 weeks.

Honey as a panacea for the herpes virus

Mix 100 g of honey with 1 tablespoon of ash and 3 cloves of garlic. After that, we lubricate the affected parts of the body 4-5 times a day for a week.

In addition, in your diet you need to add a lot of fruits and exclude sugar, chocolate and alcohol from it.
