World Contraceptive Day: when and how is it celebrated

Unfortunately, not all modern youth knows how to protect their health. Therefore, in many countries of the world there are special days that are dedicated to this or that disease. In the same article, I want to tell you that there is a World Contraceptive Day, designed to educate people about the topic of protection during sexual intercourse.

New day"

It's no secret that the problem of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies is not new. It has existed for many years, regardless of where people live. However, Contraceptive Day arose very recently. He is quite young, but has already deserved special interest from not only physicians, but also ordinary people. "When is World Contraceptive Day?" - there is a logical question. Annually this holiday is celebrated on September 26, but for the first time it happened just recently, in 2007.

Who is the organizer?

Very interesting is the problem, which nevertheless prompted the creation of such an interesting holiday. He appeared on the initiative of a number of organizations that are engaged in reproductive health of women. The reason for all was a huge number of unplanned pregnancies among adult ladies and very young girls from developed countries, which alerted the organizers. This day arose as a long informative campaign aimed at correcting this problem. However, over time, this trend has changed somewhat, and World Contraceptive Day should now address the problems not only of women's health, but also of men, primarily educating young people about issues of sexual caution and security.

Statistics

Why did the World Contraceptive Day first have to correct the situation with unplanned pregnancies? To all the answer is horrific statistics. According to figures, around 80 million women in the world face the problem of unplanned pregnancy and a fourth of them, 2 million, are resolved for abortion (which, incidentally, is not always done legally in medical institutions and sometimes ends very badly). As a result, almost 70,000 women are killed as a result of an incorrect operation or complications after it.

And the most terrible thing is that these figures refer not only to women who live in the so-called "third world" countries. Unfortunately, this trend is also observed in developed countries. Terrible figures are also available regarding teenage pregnancy. Only in European countries, the number of legal abortions among girls from 15 to 19 years increases annually. As for the illegal, this is even frightening to think about. Leaders in such a problem are Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Finland, France.

Lectures

Knowing when the World Contraceptive Day, you can try in every city to hold small events dedicated to this topic. So, first of all it is enlightening lectures, which should concern not only schoolchildren, but also adult people. After all, not everyone is familiar with modern methods of contraception among them, using only condoms or spirals (in cases of women).

Little known for most people today is the use of oral contraceptives. The main fear is the intake of hormones, which can provoke a huge number of problems, including a strong increase in the weight of a woman. This is one of the myths, because such a problem with a competent selection and use of modern OK simply does not exist.

Conversations require also such a topic as the first sexual contacts of young people. Here again there is a myth that it is impossible to conceive for the first time. Moreover, young people hardly think about and know that they are carriers of various sexually transmitted diseases. You can talk and talk a lot about what. The main thing is to introduce the rule of at least once a year in educational institutions of different levels to invite doctors, who will be all interested in acquainting themselves with the nuances of various issues. And if possible, it would be nice to organize lectures for the adult population, the hall, most likely, would be packed with people.

Promotions

How else can we celebrate World Contraceptive Day? Why not do some enlightening action? Here all kinds of methods will be appropriate. It can be small quizzes for passers-by, just sketches or miniatures, you can make a picture on the asphalt according to this topic. It is also good to give out various literature on this issue. Many will like the free distribution of condoms. However, to receive such a small gift, you will need to answer a few questions and thus learn something new for yourself. It is worth saying that the shares are a great way to attract the attention of the population to this issue.

Flashmob

Another option is how to celebrate Contraceptive Day on September 26. You can collect the youth and make a thematic flash mob. It is worth saying that this is one of the new methods of "talking" people with the public, which has gained some popularity. And if it is not initially understood by all, then it will definitely attract attention and thus this way will make even a few get acquainted with this problem and ways out of it.

Sexual education

It's good that there is a World Contraceptive Day. So people can be acquainted with some important nuances and details in the sphere of intimate life. However, it is necessary that this problem does not arise at all. What can be done? It's simple: from the earliest childhood children need to be educated competently, without bypassing such a question as the sexual component of the life of each person.

As for the post-Soviet countries, there is a huge problem. After all, it's simply not accepted to talk openly with children about sexuality, which subsequently generates a huge number of different problems. And you need to do this even from the smallest years of crumbs. Moreover, there are many different literature, tips on how to do it right. I want to believe that soon everything will change, and the Day of contraceptives will not be something surprising or even somewhat shameful for our people.
