Where is the center of the universe

The word "Universe" is known to everyone from early childhood. We remember it when we raise our heads and, holding our breath, we look into the boundless sky, filled with the lights of the stars. We ask ourselves: "How infinite is our universe? Does it have specific spatial boundaries, finally, can you find the place in which the center of the universe is located? "

What is the Universe?

By this term it is accepted to understand the whole variety of stars that can be seen not only with the naked eye, but also with the help of optical instruments, such as a telescope. It includes many galaxies. Since we can not yet see the universe completely, then its boundaries are not accessible to our eyes. It may well be that it is completely infinite. It is also impossible to determine for sure its shape. Most often it is represented in the form of a disk, but it may well turn out to be spherical, and oval. And not less disputes arise around the question of where the center of the universe is located.

Where is the center of the universe

There are various theories explaining this concept. So, we can recall the theory of relativity of Einstein: according to it, the center of the universe can be any point about which measurements are made. Over the years of the existence of mankind, the view of this problem has undergone serious changes. Once it was believed that it was the Earth - the center of the universe and the entire universe. According to the ancients, it should have a flat form and rely on four elephants, which, in turn, stand on the turtle. Later, a heliocentric model was adopted, according to which the center of the universe was on the Sun. And only when the scientists realized that the Sun is just one of the celestial stars, and not the largest one, that the notions of the center of the Universe came to the kind that we have today.

The concept of the center of the universe in the Big Bang theory

The so-called "The Big Bang Theory" was proposed to the entire astronomical community by Fred Hoyle, a well-known physicist, as an explanation for the origin of the universe. To date, it is, perhaps, the most popular in the most diverse circles. According to this theory, the space that our universe now occupies has arisen as a result of a very rapid expansion, resembling an explosion, from an infinitesimal initial volume. On the one hand, in all human representations, such a model must have not only definite boundaries, but also a center that is in the place from which, in fact, the expansion began. But there are materials that people who live in a limited three-dimensional space can not imagine. So the point, which is the astronomical center of space, can be in another dimension that is inaccessible to us.

Studies of the Hubble Telescope

Recently in the media there were reports that the Hubble Space Telescope had made a series of images of the core of our universe. And a certain city was discovered in the center of the universe, from which galaxies flew by a fan. It is not yet possible to study it in detail, since it is too far away.

Wherever the point of the astronomical center of our Universe is located, we can not yet only reach it, but even simply see it.
