What punishment for tinting is waiting for car owners

To begin with, you need to decide what is toning. Tinting is the application of special materials to the surface of the car glass, causing a discoloration and reducing the light transmission properties of the glass.

Why do I need toning and why so often did drivers do it? There are several reasons. Most often, the owner of the vehicle believes that a car with tinted windows looks "cooler", more modern. Many in this way try to protect themselves from the scorching summer and bright winter sun. Some tinting installations want to shield themselves and their personal space from intrusive looks. Another reason - a thin film, which is very often pasted and serves as a kind of protection for the glass, preventing the formation of scratches and chips. In addition, through the darkened glass, the car interior is burned out less.

Whatever the reasons, the fact remains. Glasses become darker, and the driver sees through them the road is much worse, especially in the dark. Therefore, the traffic police makes rather strict requirements to the windows in the driver's field of vision: the windshield must pass at least 75% of the light. With the fact that most modern cars are manufactured from the conveyor belt with already 20-30% tinted glass, it becomes obvious that no additional protection can be installed on the front glass without getting caught up in the penalty for tinting.

Requirements for the windows on the right and left of the driver, a little softer, although also remain serious. The light transmittance of the glass installed on them should not be less than 70%. Accordingly, in order not to receive punishment for tinting, you can slightly, barely noticeably darken them.

As for the rear windows - everything here is up to the driver. If desired, he can close them with an impenetrable black screen or paint over with colored paints.

The only requirement - the glass should not be mirrored (the same applies to the side and frontal).

Most commonly used tinting three types:

  1. The special films are very popular, mainly due to the low price and the possibility of self-installation. It should be mentioned that the punishment for tinting does not depend on its color, but only on the light-transmitting properties. Therefore, car owners can buy a multi-colored film of any shade: pink, smoky, green and dozens of other options that can harmoniously complement the image of the car. In addition, if necessary, it can be removed without harm to the glass.
  2. Sputtering - is done only in special salons, it costs more, but the service life is higher (while the appearance of the film spoils in a year or two).
  3. Removable screens - sold as an accessory to the car and installed if necessary.

What punishment for tinting that does not meet the requirements can follow? The most common is a fine.

Five hundred rubles - that's what a fine for toning can be written out by the inspector. However, this is not the biggest trouble that can happen to the owner of the car. A much more serious punishment for tinting is the refusal of the insurance company to pay in case of an accident. And the refusal is on quite legitimate grounds.

On the other hand, perhaps, the most serious punishment, waiting for car owners who have not written the law on toning , and who glue the windows from all sides with an impenetrable film - almost 100% guarantee of getting into an accident. The standards that govern the traffic police are not from scratch. When the visibility is reduced by almost two times, it is very easy not to notice the standing on the side and the pedestrian that suddenly emerges on the roadway or the car leaving behind the turn.
