What is the relevance of the literary work

The Science of Man

Gorky called literature a science about man, yet it is considered a teacher and textbook of life. Obviousness of such an assessment is not necessary. At the same time, reading is considered by many as the only way to entertain, to fill leisure. Of course, entertainment is one of the main functions in any art, but Gorky called literature a science. And science is an instrument of knowledge. Literature too. It shapes our perception of the world, the attitude towards it, the awareness of it, the behavior in it. The ability to realize these functions makes the literary work relevant. Relevance is not its optional feature, but an obligatory property. Without it, text is only text, and it can not be called artistic. Then there will be fiction. But how should we understand the meaning of the word "relevance" in relation to literature? This is not a fashion dress, fresh news, a business plan or a specific solution for a particular problem. How can you explain what is the relevance of the poems of Homer, created long before our era? Or "Plakhi" Aitmatov, written only thirty years ago, but in the country and about a country that does not exist anymore? The answer is obvious - it is the acuteness and universality of the problems raised, the author's thoughts on eternal questions, the anticipation of the future and the warning from the present.

Let's move from theoretical reasoning to practical material. Let's try to understand what relevance is, on the example of the work of "Plough".

In order not to ascend on the block

What are the problems of the modern world exacerbated to the extreme? Cruelty, violence, drug addiction, natural disasters. Aitmatov wrote about all this. How to deal with this, too, said. The writer sees a direct relationship between social, social life and the life of nature, and the decomposition of the first two leads to the death of the latter, and hence to the self-destruction of the human race. In life, more and more hunters - for anasha, for money, career, fame, power. For human lives.

We considered the basis of our activities to concern for the improvement of human existence, and the concept of humanity was associated only with man. This led to the assertion of the idea of human domination over nature, and it rebelled with downpours and droughts, floods and earthquakes, crop failures and fires. Modern society is experiencing a real epidemic and not one. The epidemic of drug addiction, the victim of which is the youth. The epidemic of lack of spirituality that embraced the whole of society. The epidemic of environmental disasters of a global nature. In this context, it is easy to understand what is the relevance of the history of the relationship between man and the world, as set forth in the novel. Which way to choose, where and how to go? All the questions are answered by the main characters of the novel by Chingiz Aitmatov.

In "Plaque" not only the problem of drug addiction, alcoholism, and writer is raised not only by the internal, spiritual state of a person, the problem of the future young generation, its moral basis. The destruction of the animals of the Mounukum savannah is a warning: at the same time, the process of destroying the natural principle in the person occurs. And, perhaps, it's up to him.

The author connects the problem of good and evil with the main question of our time about whether life on Earth will survive. Will humanity survive, what will it be like in the conditions of the technocratic XXI century? The pain for a person, the topicality of everything that Aitmatov writes about - that's what the relevance of "Plaka" is. When unity is broken, when the connection between nature and man is broken, they become enemies and enter into a disastrous confrontation for them. Violation of harmony leads to tragedy, leads the human race to the scaffold! When the balance is broken, victims are needed to restore it. And on the block are the best sons of mankind, as it was already two thousand years ago, on Calvary. For when criminals rise on the block, it is an atonement, and not a sacrifice.

Temporary and eternal in the literature

All that has been said is enough to make sure that at what angle this book is viewed, its relevance can not be doubted. But in any creation there are concrete echoes of time, which are important only for the writer's contemporaries. In "Plaque" is an image of a communist. In the "Divine Comedy" - the images of politicians and priests with their struggle for power. In "Hamlet" - the questions of inheritance of royal power, etc. So, sitting down for the essay, before you begin to analyze, you should clearly find out what the relevance of the chosen topic, whether it can lead to a conclusion that is important for us today. How this conclusion can be, again, let's look at the example of Aitmatov's novel.

Reflecting on the meaning of human existence on Earth, the Kyrgyz writer brings the reader to understanding: this meaning is in self-improvement, following the ideals of good, for the path to rebirth lies through a return to eternal truths, to the fundamental principles.
