What are the types of temperament and their psychological characteristics

Each person is individual, and his behavior can manifest itself in different ways. The fact is that there are different types of temperament, and their psychological characteristics are also different, that's why people perceive everything that happens around people in different ways. Everyone has a different reaction rate, people are active or passive, fast or inert. We will learn more about this.

In Latin, "temperament" means "an appropriate proportion of parts" and is a combination of innate characteristics of a person, characterizing the dynamics, emotionality, the ability to adapt a person. It should be noted that there are no ideal morals, each has its own pluses and minuses. Further we learn what types of temperament and their psychological characteristics are.

Choleric . The nervous system of such people is in an excitable state. For this reason, they quickly perceive what is happening, but commit rash acts. These personalities are impatient, unrestrained and unbalanced. Quickly taken for the cause, but they did not last long enough, there is irritation or a breakdown.

Sanguine . The nervous system of these individuals is very strong, mobile and at the same time balanced. Psychological characteristics of a person has the following features: high reaction speed, rapid adaptation to a changing environment, the ability to think first, then do. Sanguine is very positive and sociable, so often has many acquaintances. If it takes an interesting case, it works productively.

Phlegmatic . People with this kind of temperament are very balanced, inert, taciturn and have a slow reaction. Advantages consist in working capacity, patience for long difficulties. He loves stability (work, friends, the rhythm of life). When trouble arises, the phlegmatic does not show his experiences and from the side seems calm.

Melancholic . Holders of this kind of temperament have a weakened nervous system. They are closed, do not talk about their feelings or feelings, are depressed and insecure. Even a slight insult is taken to heart, upset, angry. They can not work long because they have high sensitivity, and they need a longer rest. Despite their shortcomings, melancholics can become excellent artists and can possess a highly developed intellect.

All the above types of temperament and their psychological characteristics are not found separately. In each of us there are all these features, but only expressed in varying degrees. For example, an individual can be positive, cheerful, sociable, hard-working, emotional. However, it has a slow response and adapts itself to the changes that arise. Because of small grievances, it irritates, and when problems arise, it becomes pessimistic. This is the case of a man of sanguine phlegmatic with features of melancholy.

The opinion that the types of temperament and their psychological characteristics are unchanged is not entirely correct. The fact is that as a result of the prolonged influence of the environment, education and situations in life that a person encounters, the characteristics of his nervous system can gradually grow or weaken. This process affects a small change in the person.

The psychological characteristics of temperament types depend on the age of people. For example, children are very energetic, active, mobile, and therefore among them there are more choleric and sanguine people. Phlegmatic and melancholic people predominate in the category of elderly people.
