Types of temperament, features of human behavior

Each of us is unique and individual. We all are sad when lonely, we laugh at moments of joy and weep, when it overtakes grief. However, it is known that different people can react to external stimuli in completely different ways. Someone, for example, absolutely calmly reacts to extraneous comments, and someone does not accept criticism in his address. Someone will laugh at themselves, accidentally finding themselves in a foolish situation, and someone will feel offended. It depends mainly on the type of temperament of a person that is given to him by mother nature from birth. It is known that temperament is inherited. Hence our frequent: "all in the father, the same stubborn," "all in the mother, the same economic."

Temperament is a special property of the human psyche, which reflects the dynamics of his mental activity. Another Greek philosopher Hippocrates, who lived around 480 BC, identified 4 types of temperament. Modern psychologists have found the scientist's observations to be correct, therefore we still trust this classification, which has survived to our time almost unchanged.

According to the classification of Hippocrates, there are the following types of temperament: sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric, melancholic. A man with a sanguine temperament is open to everything new, he easily finds a common language with the surrounding people, quickly adapts to changes. Recognize the sanguine person by his cheerfulness, positive attitude; He usually speaks quickly, reacts vividly to external stimuli. Pessimism is not inherent in this type of people, they quickly recover from failures at work and in their personal lives and again boldly rush into the abyss of life.

Phlegmatic is distinguished by a balanced and calm character, he is slow, constant and practical. Other types of human temperament   Differ from the phlegmatic by greater mobility, their owners are much easier to adapt to change. Among the positive personal qualities phlegmatic - restraint, depth of thoughts, endurance, among the negative - boundless laziness, lack of emotions. Even when phlegmatic is bad, he will not make hysterics, cry, but simply go into himself.

Melancholic is very impressionable and touchy, differs hesitation and timidity. Usually he is modest, never takes leadership positions. The peculiarity of the melancholic type of personality lies in the extraordinary richness of the inner world. Such people have a creative mindset, can be good subordinates at work, diligent students in school. Life failures and unhappiness can turn a melancholic into a constantly aching, boring creature, dissatisfied with its life.

Choleric is emotional, quick-tempered, unbalanced. He quickly becomes furious about and without, and just as quickly calms down. A person who has this type of temperament sets unattainable goals before him and always achieves them, even if one has to work "for wear." Among the positive qualities of the choleric is the principle, persistence, focus on the result.

It is impossible to single out unequivocally the best or worst types of temperament. Each person has good and bad qualities. It is important to make sure that in the development of his personality all the best is manifested, and the worst is moved to the background. All types of temperament are different, but modern psychologists tend to argue that at the present time there are practically no clearly expressed choleric, phlegmatic, and so on. A person in different periods of life can combine both heightened emotionality and calmness. In addition, the person is constantly in the process of development. What seems funny and entertaining today, in a year it may seem stupid and uninteresting. This does not mean that the type of temperament can change over time. In every person, there are immediately all types of temperament. Some of them are predominant, others are less pronounced. For example, strict with the subordinates impulsive boss of the house can be very soft and complaisant, and with the children and completely sentimental. This behavior of the person directly demonstrates the combination of at least two types of temperament in one person.
