What are the driver's license categories in Ukraine

For twenty-five years of independence of Ukraine the driver's license has undergone considerable changes, both in appearance and in the number of categories. Many people, who first took the "rights" of a new model, are at first lost in the variety that has appeared. In fact, everything is simple, you just have to figure it out.

Heritage and modernity

Traffic rules Ukraine inherited, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The USSR became a member of the Geneva International Convention almost immediately after the signing, in 1973.

The categories of the driving license were unchanged until 1991. It was in their usual form that they were inherited by Ukraine as an independent state. Two years after the collapse actively used Soviet certificates, and in 1993, the first happy motorists began to receive a crust on a plastic basis.

There were only five categories. A, B, C, D and E. They could be obtained at the SAI, passing the exam. The certificate for driving trams, tractors, trolleybuses and other equipment was issued by specialized training centers.

In 2008, the Verkhovna Rada decided to harmonize national traffic rules with European ones, which resulted in several new categories, each of which will be discussed below.

A1

Driving license categories in Ukraine type "A1" are issued to those wishing to drive two-wheeled vehicles, engine capacity up to fifty cubic centimeters or up to four kilowatts.

The introduction of this innovation allowed to breathe a sigh of relief to many road users. The fact is that earlier scooters, mopeds and other similar equipment could be operated by everyone, not having a sufficient age or knowledge of traffic rules. This was actively used by teenagers. The number of emergency situations on the road was growing dangerously. After the introduction of the category, in just a few months the situation improved significantly

A

Driving license categories in Ukraine type "A" are issued to those wishing to drive two-wheeled vehicles (or motorcycles with a stroller), engine capacity of over fifty cubic centimeters or a power of more than four kilowatts.

Under it fall motorcycles, powerful scooters and mopeds.

Holders of certificates received before 2008 can update the crust to a modern one with automatic opening of both category "A" and category "A1" without having to pass additional practical examinations.

IN 1

The category of driving license in Ukraine type "B1" is issued to those wishing to drive ATVs, tricycles, motor-carriages and other similar vehicles. The only difference from the usual "B" is that the weight of this machine should not exceed 400 kg.

On the streets of big cities, owners of such equipment can be met very rarely. These units are more popular in forests, fields, off-road.

AT

The most famous and popular category of driver's license in Ukraine type "B" gives the right to drive vehicles weighing up to three and a half tons and the number of passengers, in addition to the driver, in the number of eight people.

An overwhelming number of cars fall under the category.

Holders of certificates received before 2008 can update the crust to a modern one, with automatic opening of both category "B" and category "B1" without the need for additional practical examinations.

C1

Next, cargo categories of rights in Ukraine will be described. The decoding has two meanings: "C1" and "C".

The first category allows you to drive vehicles from 3500 kg to 7500 kg.

FROM

The category of rights in Ukraine group "C" allows you to manage any vehicles over 7500 kg.

Here is the main paradox for many.

Why can not manage small trucks, having only the category "C", and it is necessary to get "C1", because the control is the same, remains a mystery.

Holders of certificates received before 2008 can update the crust into a modern one, with the automatic opening of both categories "C" and category "C1" without the need for additional practical examinations.

D1

Owners of this category can operate bus vehicles, with the number of seats for passengers not exceeding sixteen. A rare category in Ukraine. Manufacturers of minibuses establish in their offspring usually eight seats for passengers. In the most popular "Sprinters" eighteen seats.

D

Owners of this category can operate bus vehicles, with a number of seats for passengers more than sixteen units.

BE, С1Е, СЕ, D1Е, DE

Drivers are required to open additional categories to existing ones if they plan to transport goods weighing more than 750 kg using a trailer.

Age qualification

A driver's license with open categories "A" and "A1" can be obtained on the day of the sixteenth birthday. "В", "В1" "С" and "С1" - from the age of eighteen. "D" and "D1" - from twenty-one years.

Validity

The validity of the driver's license for the last seven years has changed several times. At the time of the emergence of new categories, all of them were opened indefinitely. Later, the rights were granted for fifty years, then for thirty.

At the moment, new "crusts" are issued on a slightly different pattern. "A" and "A1" - twenty years, all other categories - ten.
