Wetting dermatitis in children: photo and treatment

Wet dermatitis belongs to the group of atopic diathesis. The doctors consider this form of the disease to be the most severe. This is due to the clinical picture and the specific treatment of the disease.

What is wetting dermatitis in children

A distinctive feature of this type of dermatitis is the fact that the focus of inflammation is constantly wet, appearing cracks or ulcers are filled with pus, which complicates the course of the disease and its treatment.

Wet dermatitis in children is of several types. Foci of localization are different for each age group.

By age, dandruff dermatitis is divided:

  • Breastfeeding and children under 2 years. The affected areas are the face, elbows and knee folds, and occasionally the body.
  • Children from 3 to 12 years old - neck, limbs, hands on the back.
  • Adolescents from 13 to 18 years old - face, neck, folds of a natural nature.

Do not confuse the dermatitis of this species with eczema, which affects only the surface of the skin. Wet dermatitis (photo below) causes swelling due to skin inflammation in the deep layers.

Causes of the disease

The appearance of wetting dermatitis in children can be caused by external and internal causes. These include:

  • Problems in the work of the digestive tract. The disease is caused by insufficient splitting of food fragments. Such moknushchy dermatitis in the baby is found most often, which is due to the imperfection of the digestive system.
  • Allergy to food or chemical and medications. For example, mopping atopic dermatitis is more common in small children, feeding on mother's milk.
  • The presence of bacterial infection in the body provokes the appearance of dermatitis with the formation of vesicles with pus.
  • The pathologies of the kidneys and liver, as well as disruptions in the pancreas work, are the least common cause of dermatitis in children.

Children's immunity, weakened by any disease or teething, can lead to the development of wetting dermatitis.

Symptomatics

The manifestation of the disease is also associated with the age groups of children:

  • In infants and children up to 3 years old, the disease begins with the appearance of wet spots, which then dry up to a crust. This group is characterized by dry skin, its peeling and severe itching. If bubbles are formed, they burst most often.
  • Children 3-12 years old are ill longer than babies, even despite the treatment. Characterized by dermatitis edema of the skin, flaking and flushing. Very painful cracks can appear on the site of the lesion. After recovery, often on the skin are dark spots, which after a few months pass without a trace.
  • Adolescents are 13-18 years old. The disease can suddenly start and also end unexpectedly. In the acute stage, large areas of the body are affected.

In the presence of one or more symptoms, it is better to consult a doctor for an accurate diagnosis, especially for infants.

Diagnostics

At the initial stage of the disease, diagnosis is very important. It is necessary to immediately show the child to a pediatrician who will advise any measures to alleviate the symptoms of dermatitis and send them to an allergist.

The allergist doctor will prescribe the necessary tests to determine the cause of dermatitis. Most often this is a blood test for determining the level of eosinophils and the presence of IgE. These two indicators are basic for establishing the allergic origin of dermatitis.

After this, the child should examine the children's dermatologist and take scrapings from the wound for mycotic damage.

When the results of all tests are known, the pediatrician will determine the type of the disease and will prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Therapeutic methods of treatment

Wet dermatitis, the treatment of which must be started immediately, requires a whole set of therapeutic procedures. These include:

  • Isolation of the allergen from the child;
  • Careful hygiene of the affected skin;
  • Environmental monitoring;
  • Lubrication of lesions with anti-inflammatory ointments;
  • diet.

If the doctor has established that the disease has occurred because of the presence of any allergen in the home where the child is, this reason must be eliminated. Such pathogens can be detergent powder, dust, various chemical agents that affect the baby's skin.

A prerequisite is to follow a diet. In the case of a diagnosis of " dermatitis" in a baby, treatment should begin with a lactating mother's diet or a revision of the complementary feeding scheme.

Older children should not eat red and yellow foods or a specific allergen.

Foci of dermatitis should be washed with saline and apply a weak solution of manganese. Also, as prescribed by the doctor, you need to use external anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ointments, creams or sprays. It can be "Bepanten", "Solkoseril".

If a secondary infection has occurred, combined and antibacterial drugs should be used - Triderm, Pimafucort.

When treating wetting dermatitis, it is necessary to maintain a comfortable air temperature for the child, to ventilate the room and not to allow the mucous membrane to dry out. These measures will help prevent the emergence of other diseases on the background of weakened immunity by dermatitis.

Medication

If the complex methods of therapy do not bring the desired result, the doctor prescribes the use of drugs orally.

These drugs include medicines of the following groups:

  • Antihistamines;
  • Probiotics;
  • Sedative;
  • Glucocorticosteroids;
  • Systemic enzymes;
  • Immunomodulators.

First of all, prescribe antihistamines, which will remove the itching (Claritin, Loratadin).

To children such problems on a skin deliver huge dyscomfort. They begin to be capricious and do not sleep well. In such cases, taking light sedatives (valerian, motherwort) is fully justified. It is important to strictly follow the dosage.

To restore the microflora of the stomach and intestines after taking medication will help probiotics ("Dextrin", "Lactulose").

If the degree of skin lesions is large, the doctor will prescribe hormonal ointments - glucocorticosteroids. These include "Hydrocortisone", "Prednisolone."

Immunomodulators will support the weakened strength of the child's body and help fight the disease naturally.

In some cases, a large bubble can form at the site of the appearance of small papules. Doctors recommend an autopsy, but it is only necessary in a hospital setting where all the rules of sterility are observed.

Other means

Wet dermatitis is treatable and folk medicine. Only they must necessarily be in combination with medications and with the permission of the attending physician.

To children up to a year from this complex only use of a decoction of a turn is authorized. The guys from one year are recommended a pack of grated potatoes. Only gruel should be wrapped in a clean gauze.

After 5 years, you can use lotions from decoction of chamomile or celandine.

A good effect is given and fizioprotsedury. These include:

  • Electrophoresis;
  • Magnetotherapy;
  • Medical baths;
  • Laser and mud therapy.

The application of all these methods will get rid of the disease in a short time and without any special consequences.

Prevention of disease

Measures to prevent wetting dermatitis in children are aimed at implementing a set of rules:

  • Observance of the child's personal hygiene daily;
  • Control nutrition of mother and child, if he is no longer breastfeeding;
  • Avoidance of contact with the irritant with an already existing allergy;
  • Treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas;
  • Timely call to the doctor.

Fulfillment of these simple recommendations will help to avoid to children and their parents such an unpleasant disease as dandruff. Even if the disease is in the initial stage, you need to try to carry out preventive measures. This will avoid complications, and the child will suffer from itch much less.
