Venereal diseases: symptoms and diagnostics

Today, venereal diseases, the symptoms of which are almost imperceptible, are quite common. Often a person for a long time does not even know that he is infected, infects other people and allows illness to harm his health. Most of the STDs have a negative impact only on the genitourinary system and reproductive function, however, some of them are deadly.

It's impossible to diagnose yourself alone on symptoms. Even a qualified specialist can not always do it. Therefore, laboratory diagnostics is necessary. In addition, quite often one person combines several diseases.

Therefore, if there are suspicions of sexually transmitted diseases, the symptoms of which are similar to each other, then it is necessary to do a complete examination for STDs. Since, if a patient has one pathogen, then maybe there are others.

In addition, it happens that inflammation causes both specific and nonspecific microorganisms. Such a mixed infection is also not uncommon and is treated more difficultly. Therefore, all pathogens must be identified for the purpose of effective therapy.

So, the symptoms and signs of sexually transmitted diseases in men :

  • Unusual discharge from the urethra (purulent, yellow-green, white, mucous, cloudy, with an unpleasant odor);
  • Painful and frequent urination, which is accompanied by itching and cutting;
  • Pain in the testicles and perineum;
  • Irritation and itching of the genitals;
  • The appearance of vesicles, ulcers, chancroid on the genitals;
  • The presence of genital warts.

If a person has noticed such manifestations, then one should immediately visit a venereologist and be examined. The sooner the treatment is started, the less expensive it will be. If therapy is not carried out in time, then soon these symptoms will disappear and the disease will become chronic. It will periodically worsen, hitting more and more sections of the genitourinary system, and eventually lead to infertility and a violation of sexual function.

So, sexually transmitted diseases in women:

  • Specific vaginal discharge (unusual amount, color, odor);
  • Swelling, soreness and itching of the genitals;
  • Unpleasant sensations during sex and urination;
  • abdominal pain;
  • The appearance on the genital organs of papillomas, ulcers, vesicles, rashes, chancre.

And it is necessary to take into account that different patients have a different set of symptoms. Depending on the individual characteristics, they can be more vivid or blurred. In some people, the symptoms are barely perceptible, while others do not.

Therefore it is desirable to be checked regularly, even if nothing disturbs. It is especially desirable to do this before conception of the child. If something is bothering, then a visit to the doctor should not be postponed.

Better, of course, a disease prevented than treated. To do this, it is desirable to have a permanent partner, whom a person trusts, and use condoms. Although they do not give full protection, especially from genital herpes and papillomas.

Today, for the diagnosis of STDs, crops and PCR are used. Sometimes titres of antibodies in the blood to the pathogen are determined. Sowing allows you to find out the number of pathogens and choose an effective drug, but it takes quite a long time.

Modern PCR allows you to identify the microorganism much faster and is also very sensitive. The number of antibodies is determined in order to find out the reaction of the organism to it.

Some of the first signs of sexually transmitted diseases in men and women are similar to manifestations of urethritis and colpitis, which are caused by conditionally pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, it is possible that a person does not have an STD, but it is still necessary to exclude them. Especially if there have been doubtful connections lately, there has been a change of partner.

So, venereal diseases, the symptoms of which are not always clearly manifested and similar to each other, must be treated in a timely manner. Otherwise, they become chronic, cause inflammation of various parts of the genitourinary system, complicate or make it impossible to conceive and bear a child, negatively affect sexual function. Some are deadly.
