Childhood

Successful season

The twenty-first century for Yevgeny Plushenko began very successfully. The skater again becomes the champion of Russia, then Europe, and also the Grand Prix finals. The World Cup, which was held in Canada in 2001, brought the athlete a long-awaited deserved title of world champion. How old was Plushenko at that time? Only eighteen.

The Olympic season in Salt Lake City in 2002 began for Eugene from overcoming the difficulties associated with injury. I had to make changes to the long program. Along with Plushenko, the favorite of the performance was Alexei Yagudin. In the short program, Eugene took only 4th place. He fell, performing a triple rytberger.
