VAZ 21093 is a stylish and reliable satellite

Lada Sputnik is the first front-wheel-drive hatchback that was designed and manufactured at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant from 1987 to 2004. In addition to the basic model, various modifications of the car, including the VAZ 21093, were produced in different years.

Initially, it was fitted with a four-cylinder eight-valve carburetor engine up to 1.5 liters. After 1994, it was exclusively 1.5-liter engines with distributed fuel injection. The peculiarity of the new power unit was that in the case of a timing belt, the pistons did not reach the valves. Further, the car was repeatedly subjected to restyling: in addition to the engine, the body was modified, the instrument panel was redesigned , and later the "europanel" was installed at all.

In 1990, the updated version of the five-door hatchback - VAZ 21093 - came off the assembly line. The technical characteristics of the new engine have already been described earlier. As for the modernization as a whole, first of all the changes touched the bodywork. The car received a short wing, minor changes have undergone some parts of the radiator and transfer the car. With the rear seat folded, the hatchback takes the form of a cargo and passenger transport. As for the VAZ 21093, the characteristics of the modified version make it possible to make a full-fledged station wagon. Around the same time, the hatchback was also launched in the "Lux" package, the essence of which was a more modern instrument panel equipped with a trip computer and a tachometer. Separate lots were equipped with an anti-theft system, electric windows and electric door blocking, and some finishing elements of the interior also changed.

VAZ 21093, like other models of the Sputnik / Samara family, has its advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages, of course, can be distinguished high dynamics and high-speed quality, stability on the road and good controllability. As for the negative sides, then with respect to all previous models, we sing out rattling, presence in the cabin of cheap plastic, less patency and reduced maintainability.

In comparison with the same "Zhiguli" in the car more efficient use of free space, he himself became easier and safer (for example, with a frontal impact). The rear seat in the VAZ 21093 can easily be folded to carry oversized cargo. The car requires less steering movements, allows you to quickly and safely enter the turns, even on slippery roads. As an anti-corrosion protection of the body is used more resistant priming panels before painting, a protective film of epoxy is applied during the final processing of the body. Naturally, in comparison with foreign counterparts, these measures can hardly be considered satisfactory.

And a few words about the appearance of the VAZ 21093. It is very peculiar, and all thanks to a wedge-shaped shape with curved side windows. Undoubtedly, such forms make the car more sporty, however from the point of view of spaciousness and convenience of landing it loses to foreign analogues. Another innovation - the fuel tank is now made of special plastic, not metal, as it was before. Such a tank in the fire swells, and does not explode, which in itself gives the car a certain head start in terms of security.
