Kim Manners - a man who gave the world "X-Files" and "Supernatural"

Thanks to this director and producer, today we can watch wonderful mystical series. His work has become famous in his genre, millions of people from different countries like them, they are highly appreciated by critics. Kim Manners gave us the "X-Files" and "Supernatural." But his other projects deserve attention, as well as biographical facts, which we will certainly touch upon.

Kim Manners: childhood and family

The future director and executive producer was born on January 13, 1951 in the family of people associated with the cinema. His father, Sam Manners, was an actor and ... also an executive producer who worked on many well-known American TV series. It was he who took off the Naked City and Trace 66 in the 60's, Division 5-O in the 70's and "Going to White Castle" in the 80's. Sam Manners continued to work until the late 90's and survived his son for three years.

The Menners family had three children, and they all decided to tie their fates to the movies. Kim had this desire at the age of three. It was then that the boy first appeared in a commercial devoted to one of the models of Chevrolet cars. At first, Kim planned to become an actor, and this dream came true.

Actor's debut and first directing work

In 1970, Kim Manners played his first film role. It was the tape "Halls of Anger", over which he worked with Jeff Bridges. Kim did not have any more roles in the movie: he was attracted to the work of an assistant director. In this position, he worked on the films "Valdez goes" and "Locust". After that, there were "Charlie's Angels" and a director's chair.

In the role of director Kim Manners also spoke in such projects as "Jump Street, 21", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "Mission Impossible", "Rescuers Malibu." Separate episodes in these series - the work of Manners.

The best jobs in a career

They, no doubt, were the "X-Files", which aired on the FOX channel from 1993 to 2002. The series narrates about two agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, their work and meetings with the supernatural. In the project Manners invited screenwriters James Wong and Glen Morgan, who worked with him together on "Jump Street, 21". The director joined the "X-Files" in 1994, during the filming of the second season, and then every year he released several episodes. In total, Manners directed 50 series, and this was a kind of record for the project, and for him. As a result, the final episode of the "X-Files" was entrusted to Kim Manners.

After that there was work on "Supernatural". This is the story of the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, bravely coming to grips with evil. Since the beginning of filming, which started in 2005, Kim Manners worked on the project and brought a special spirit of creative spontaneity to it.

The diagnosis and cause of death

During the filming of the first series of season number 4 "Supernatural" Manners learned that he had lung cancer. Work on the project, however, he continued as long as he could, but in 2009 Kim Manners disappeared. He died in Los Angeles on January 25.

Mournful news spread to America: Kim Manners died. The series on which he worked, and those projects to which he had only an indirect relationship, honored his memory in his episodes. So, the 15th episode of the "Supernatural" season entitled "Death takes a day off" ended with the words: "The season is dedicated to the memory of Kim Manners". And after that the inscription appeared: "We miss you very much, Kim." The series "In All Grave" also devoted an episode to him. 5 series 2 seasons ended with the words: "Our friend, Kim Manners." It is noteworthy that the main character of the project "In All Grave" in the story also had lung cancer.
