Utilization boiler: purpose and types

The recovery boiler is designed for use in the production of heat, which is extracted from gases produced by the operation of various industrial units and internal combustion engines. Such devices are not connected to any furnace and receive a temperature solely from the off-gas. Some heat recovery boilers act as a coolant of process gases in the production of sulfuric acid.

Typically, the steam boiler is used in the metallurgical industry. In it, the temperature of the gases reaches +400 ° C, and when working with steelmaking furnaces - +1500 ° C. If the productivity of the enterprise is not so high, then equipment with forced circulation will be quite effective. Due to its design, the steam boiler-utilizer is practically safe for the environment, since it releases a minimum of pollutants into the atmosphere. In addition, he is economical, because the costs of gas cleaning are incredibly low, and effectively uses fuel.

Steam boiler is usually installed on diesel and gas power stations, microturbines, diesel boilers, etc. In the oil industry, the carbon monoxide produced during the operation of the engines is burned to generate energy. The resulting water is converted to steam and released to the outside. This method of gas processing also operates in the metallurgical industry. Steam is sometimes used in technological needs in those enterprises where it is necessary. There is also a reduction in the cost of hot water (through its production from a steam boiler). The remains of the waste material are discharged through the chimney.

The construction of heat recovery boilers is different. In addition to the above model, forced circulation, there is a model with natural circulation. Also distinguish the mechanism with the drum and without it. Some firms develop models on the individual order taking into account specificity of a place of installation (for example, indoors or outside).

Depending on the purpose, the utilizers are hot-water and steam, having an afterburner, with one, two or three pressure levels requiring horizontal or vertical installation and many others. There are many types of heat exchangers that are characterized by converters (for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy) or used resources (coke, glass, sponge iron, steel and other materials).

It is worth noting the modular steam boiler, which is integrated into the flue gas installation more easily than others, and does not require large expenditures. It reliably functions with frequent fluctuations in the load, and also transfers heat very well.

Before installation it is necessary to find out what power is consumed by this or that boiler-utilizer. The usual capacity of the equipment is from 120 kW to 1700 kW. To do this, it is advisable to consult the specialists of the company that installs boilers so that they can tell in advance which model is best purchased. For maintenance of the heat exchangers, stairs and platforms are provided.
